Tweedle... nope.

A very curious thing happening when Alice' Adventures in Wonderland is retold is that some characters like Tweedle-Dee, Tweedle-Dum and the White Queen crash into the story. This really doesn't work. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a tale covering a voyage to fantasy. Through the Looking Glass is not as fine a work as "Adventures." You can spot the seams in the story, Carroll trying to show he's handy with chess and mathematics, and overusing his wordplay skills. Sure, some of "Looking Glass's" characters are colorful (the Tweedle-Dees, and Humpty Dumpty), but the result impacts me more as a hastily done blend of folklore and wit. To the fact that the book isn't really a masterpiece as Adventures is, add that editors don't care much if their mix-and-match of the two tales is consistent or not. Your comment?

And are you surprised? I personally don't care that the two get mixed up... heck, I liked the re-envisioned version of the new movie.
