Do you get emotional when your period/mestruation is near?

I don't know why I feel so emotional today and feel so sad maybe because of my hormones and my period is so near. I cried earlier and still feel sad just feeling so down today. I also get easily irritated and moody when I have my period. How about you?

i can always tell my period will be here soon because i becaome very irritated with many things very quickly. i also start feeling sad out of the blue and i will sometimes cry for no apparent reason and once i start crying i think of a lot of things so i cry even more. it is really weird. not only that, i get cramp before my period even gets here. people tell me i am weird for that because most do not get it until they start. how do you deal with the moods??

I get irritated too and sometimes, I have 'swing moods' as people around em like to call it. They are times when I just cry out of the blue or when I am watching a sad story (but not exactly a thing worth crying when I'm not on my cycle). some people think that I am in a depressed mood rather than having my cycle so they tend to give me space (which is good sometimes). after that, life kinda rolls back into place. but it happens again after a month. So it's I guess at some point, our biological processes affect our emotion (which is produced by brain activity). It's just one roller coaster ride after the otehr.

@jeanneyvonne -- yes i agree it seems at tho it is nothing but a roller coaster ride. i have often times cried on a sad show/movie even when i am not on my cycle and i also have been told they think i am depressed not just my cycle fooling with my emotions. i use to believe them until i really thought about things. i have been thro the depression part so i can tell the differance. most people try to give me space to and the ones that dont..well..i try to push my self away lol because there have been times that i have lost a friend all over "mood swings" (like many people call it). why cant guys go thro this to? hahahahaha

i do not notice that, but i often does feel irritable when i have menstruation because of the discomfort. i would usually feel my back aching when i have menstruation so that is just about it.. but when it is coming near, i usually find no difference in my emotions.

It is the same with me. Whenever my period is near, I become so moody and irritated. It is more likely that I will have a fight with someone close to me. I also get easily angry. I wish I can take those unwanted behaviors away but I don't know how. There are times that I just prefer to be alone and do what I want because in that way, I can avoid fights with other people.

I empathized with you yes I am emotional when my period is nearing obviously I am irritable and have this feeling of outburst anger as if not afraid to start a fight or to initiate one ,sometimes I wonder and have this second thought of asking myself why am I am acting this way then finally I came across an article about menstruation that gives me a hint and insight about it and eventually made me realized that is a normal occurrence of a woman's life and make me wonder what a unique characteristic for every woman to experienced and to handled at right.

when my period is getting nearer, i would be irritable. i get mad even on small things. and later on, i would think and wonder why i got mad. sometimes i would feel sad without knowing why. i feel really low. sometimes i pity myself with knowing why. this is why men should give more patience and understanding to women.

Since I have Bipolar Type 2-Manic Depression, when it gets closer to my cycle things can get really bad. My emotions are all over the charts, and I usually make it a habit to stay away from certain things or people, or I will just stay at home altogether that day because I need alone time.

In Hindu mythology this happens because of the changes in moon and its affects in your sign because moon relates to the mental conditions, but scientifically when periods are on you are going to experience some changes because of hormonal changes in your body and it may be change in emotions, feeling irritated on smallest things, not willing to talk to others, unnecessary anger etc.

Yep! I'm at the point just as I write this!! I just know it's coming within a couple days. I get emotional - and often get down on myself during this time (too many negative thoughts). I am extra sensitive and will cry if I hear a certain piece of music or see a movie or even an emotional commercial. As I've gotten older, I've also experienced the onset of migraines just before my period (though I've never gotten them before). Also, I can't explain it in words, but my hair hurts (my son is always pulling on it, but it's particularly painful when he does it during this time) . . . and my makeup doesn't seem to go on well - as if my skin were dryer or something. Not fair that a woman has to go through this!

I do feel the same way sometimes but not every month anymore unlike when I was younger.

I get emotional on first day of my period. Even though things may not appear so big, I observed that I'm irritated in every little things. The uncomfy feelings of having it in you I think somehow contributed to my being emotional.

I really have never taken the time out to monitor my emotions to see if I'm more emotional when my period is about to come. Probably so, though.

Yes, most of the time I get very moody and irritable when my period is coming. I guess it depends on every body's reaction to the hormones at that period. At most cases, when I'm having my period, I always experience dysmennorrhea which would upset me a lot. Painkillers are really a big help though but sometimes, it doesn't. Some other women have different reactions when their period is coming. Some would even start to have cravings. I know that for a fact since I'd also crave for something, most specifically a type of food that would delight me. Some women would get depressed and emotional for some reasons when their period is coming. There are different reactions on each and every women when it comes to this, it just depends on how you handle it.

My last one really effected my emotions. I had gone way over the emotional level that i thought i could go yet had nothing to blame it on.

No I never had it or have it, also not before or afterwards. Perhaps you should ask for some advice if you have those extreme moodswings? Keeping yourself busy and taking some distance and time for you might help as well.

well it doesn't affect my emotions.I don't allow it to rule mine, then. But my body is so weak in it.Yes, i would feel it phsically. You know, this hip pain and back pain had always been the foremosts of most of my periods.Maybe i would get emotional when i have these going on, but not when it is just near. Then, also then..I had the problem of this stomach ache always.Always.It would pain a lot that i would always want to sleep and that's what i always wanted to doo. Emotions-i don't think they rule over me.I don't want to be a drama queen ever like my sister who creates a big fuss of it and everything else.I would want no one to disturb me.And we have this thing of religious or superstitious or whatever. We have to be aside for those 3 days and then after we take a head bath-only then we are allowed into homes to walk and touch things freely-it's something of hindu customs :(
