Why does clear gel deodorant harden?

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me why clear gel deodorant hardens? after awhile it will get hard and i have to run hot water over the top to freeopen the hardened areas . so i can get deodorant again. Also it will not gush out all over the place.

Im not sure about that but, i never really liked gel deodorant it seemed like it didnt work very well or it sometimes seemed like i would sweat more with it then with regular deodorant.
