Without a computer for awhile!

Right now I am using one at work. Mine is currently being fixed my my brother ,the computer programer. Last night I get a pop up saying my computer is invested with viruses and to click on to get it taken care of. It looked legit because it said Microsoft! I clicked on and I found out it was not legit! It was a phoney! I was then told to buy something to to clear up the viruses! I knew I had invested my computer with at least one virus! Couldn't do a darn thing on my pc after that! Called my brother and he then set it up to take over my pc. No biggy. He has done it before! Anyway he couldn't get rid of the virus! So now he has it and will work on it when he can! Will try and not do this agian! Has this ever happen to you?

Actually, it just happened to me last week. It looked very legit and well, it was not. It wiped out my computer. I am friends with the guy that fixed it and it took him 7 hours to get rid of it. He had to remove my hard drive and all my programs. It cost me 60.00 and that was a deal!My friend also had the same thing happen and I don't know what it cost her to get it fixed as she has been on vaction

Oh you are so lucky to have someone in the family able to do this stuff for free! The that fixes mine is a friend and he gives me deals but free is the best of all and my friend only will do that if it is a real quick fix which I guess I can't blame him. Well, I hope you get it back soon. I understand busy. I have so little time to do extra things. I have a stack of sewing to do for family members that is now at a point where I'm feeling bad that I haven't gotten to it. I think I'm just going to have to take a nite off from the computer, set my sewing machine up and just go for it.

My brother,my older brother,is the computer programer in the family! He does it for free! No word on what he has to all do and when I will get it back! He is a busy person! he has his job,a wife,a fourteen year old daughter,a dog and helps raise money for my neice's school! So when he get it done he'll let me know! Until then I will use the work computers,like I am at this moment!

hi there,
my laptop has the same problem. it has been modified by a virus and so it doesn't load my personal settings and it brings me back to the default settings. it needs to be fixed by having it reformatted.

I don't know if it needs to reformated. All I know is my brother is the computer programer and he will fix it. He still has it. I know he is a busy person and will get it back to me as soon as he can! If I don't get it back by the weekend I'm going to be pretty bored!

i hope you get it back soon. i know, me too, i feel bored because this is my past time hehehe but when i am at work, i am too scared to even open Facebook hehehe. so i am stuck doing whatever that is just to kill time. but there are times that i get asked to do a lot and i find them so hard.
i am not sure when i can have my laptop fixed...

Yes it happened to me also for while when I had virus in my computer. Now a days I take all the available data or important data to the DVD and format the computer when I have virus. I think one of the best way to get the virus is to format the hard disk. I think some antivirus does not remove the virus completely.

Why do people say I need a hard disk to clear up a virus? If I needed one my brother would tell me and send me one! I can't afford anit-virus ware so I use the free Microsoft services. It is better then nothing! This is not the first time I had these problems. I am being more careful and I am sick of people making me feel I need to be perfect when I am on the computer! No one is!

Hi blue65packer do you not have the recoverey cd if you don,t it might be on your drive just restore your pc back to new i do it all the time its sick to know theresnpoeple out there makeing them programs just to mess up a pc what a world we live in i hope your bro can fix it for you good luck.

My brother is a computer programer. He knows what the heck he is doing. This is the not the first time he has worked on my computer! I have picked up virus's before. He even fixed the mess the college IT department did on my first computer! I work at a college and I will never take my computer back there again! Thise IT people are a bunch of idiots!

I got many times like that also when my laptop got problem. I had to send it to the computer shop to repair it. The first time, i had to wait 7 days and then after using for awhile, it got that problem again. Then i had to send it to the computer shop again then wait 10 days..., the nearly time is 3 days waiting...It was so annoyed!!

My brother has had my computer since alst saturday. Not sure when he will be done fixing it. He will let me know when he is done with it and send it to my by UPS. I hope I never will have to send my computer to a computer shop for repair! I couldn't afford it even if I wanted to! My brother fixes my pc for free and I can't go wrong that way!

Well, when i use my laptop at first i do not have any knowledge about it.The days come,my computer was at risk and then slow down to off all.!
I was shocked and what to do about it..but now i have knowledge about how to protect computer.

My computer does have protection! This virus came up I had no idea was a virus! It looked legit! I now I am not the first person to think it was and it turned out it wasn't! It isn't the first time my pc has been infected with viruses. The last time it happened I can't remember how I got the viruses! I try to be super careful but I am not perfect!

I had the same thing happen...it was supposedly from my antivirus program...but it turned out that it wiped out a bunch of programs including the one that connects with the internet....so I couldn't get on and so it's sitting upstairs while I decide if I want to fix it or not....

I figured I was not the only one this happened to! Anyway I am grateful my brother was a phone call away! As long as I have my older brother to fix my computer problems I will take advantage of it! Until I have it fixed I am using the computers at work! I could use the colleges IT department to have it fixed. I did that once and it was a disaster! Thye had it 9 weeks! What they needed to do they did it half @ssed! I enede up sending to my brother after all! So I won't go back to those itiots!
