Strikes in hospitals by nurses and doctors ---- is it tolerable? Our lives are in the hands of the doctors, we the patients consider the doctors and nurses as our saviors,in our tensed up mood, we call them God,human live is in such a precarious condition, the responsibility of the medical profession is unbounded. If at all strike is a must, due to various reasons, then the strike must be outside the working hours.

I don't think that people in a profession that is responsible for the lives of other people should be allowed to go on strike, because at the end of the day people could die while they are on strike. However, I do know that they have rights, and they should be able to voice their concerns about their jobs in a place where their concerns will be listened to, and where things are going to be done about them. Everyone deserves to be happy in work and this means that they need somebody who they would be able to talk to about the things that are worrying them.

Dear GenmaR Very viable argument. yes, people in responsibility holding positions where human lives are involved, or human lives need immediate attention should know their first priority. Of course if they--doctors and policemen have to voice their grievances a viable method has to be adhered to that effect a separate act or law to alleviate their grievances or voice their opinions not to tamper their duty hours should be passed. I do appreciate your response. with regards S.Radhamani

My mom works as a doctor-not in a hospital, but in a school, and I see how unfairly they are treated (they are getting less and less salaries and working more and more... my mom had to take up on 2 other part-time doctor jobs to have a salary, with which she and my dad with a reasonable salary could bring us up with my brother properly, and for hospital staff, it could be even worse), at least in my country. I understand them striking, and I kind of feel that the importance of striking would be to show how the whole thing would work without them, there wouldn't be any point in them striking when they are not working. But... I guess the best option would be for not all hospital people to strike, only a part of them. That would show the governments that if most of them would leave their jobs due to the conditions, how it would slow down their work, but it wouldn't be as dangerous for those citizens who need medical help, as the hospitals would still work.
