If Your Life Was a Song...

If your life was a song, what one song would it be? An oldie, something new? Hip-hop, rock, metal...classical, opera, country or western? Bluegrass or blues? Jazz or something from a musical? Perhaps some folk music? Reggae, anyone?
I don't think I could pick one...there are songs and genres that define or are part of the shape of various aspects of my life. When I write stories on Gather, the titles are song lyrics. When I wrote about my sister-in-law, I titled it, "Things that go to Make up a Life" - which is a line from Genesis' song "Home by the Sea". In fact, that would probably be one song that defines a certain period of my life. Also, the song "Drive" by Incubus - describes where I am a lot of times.
So what about you? Any songs, or genres, that can describe you at times? Or your life?

Oh I am sorry to hear that, ElicBxn.
I know fibromyalgia has many sindroms in it , and it must be really one hell of a kicker, the meds they gave you. Allergen would make it worse.

There for a long time I used to always rewrite the song "All My Ex's Live In The Tri Cities.." which means eastern Wa. But anymore, I am not sure if there is just one song that for fits. I do have some favorites which I can relate with though, but never thought about if any of them describe me.

That's the magic of music/songs - we can all find something suitable at various times that fit us. Just as we are not static, neither are the songs that describe us, or aspects of ourselves. For most people, their favorite songs are reminders of good times in their lives - such as an "our" song that reminds one of a partner....Or a song played at a prom or other event. I wish I had the ability to take words and write a song that can be meaningful to others!

my song would be "i will survive". because i'm still 28 and i think i have been through a lot of trials and difficulties in life. i think i have encountered more problems in life than anyone else is this world. and yet i'm still here, striving, and still happy. so whatever problems that will come in the future, i am sure i can survive it.

that is a great song, itsmamanen, and a wonderful story. I was there in my past, too - and made it through lots of trials and hard times, coming out a survivor. It's good to know you have that sort of inner strength to see your way through tough times.

If my life were a song, it would definitely be “I stand alone” from Godsmack. I feel like it would describe the largest portion of my life adequately. However, not all of a life could really be classified as only one kind of song. I would venture so far as to say that a life should be more closely matched to an album.

Now that is very true! I can think of a whole list of songs that could accompany different aspects of my life.
