The main question there is, do people believe because they really genuinely believe, out of their own discretion, or were they just told/taught to believe for fear of punishment from elders and the community?

That is a great question and i do not know the answer but i would like to know more. I think that's why a lot of people do believe what they do. it's odd that others can impact us so much.

I had my families religion shoved down my throat most of my childhood which actually pushed me away from it. I now follow a Paganistic belief system that i learned about when i was 10. I feel i am a better person overall for it. I lived and learned all i could about over 17 different religions and have found that they all say that this is the only way to get to heaven. If it is so hard to get to heaven maybe it isn't for me to go to. But if i am wrong i am prepared to accept my punishment.

There are probably dozen of reasons people choose to follow their religion, some like the doctrine and teaching, some feel they are closer to the religious divine and enjoy the emotional joy and power they received, other may believe it because it is part of their family's tradition and custom, while some are forced to believe in religion due to pressure from parent, friends and community. It is quite a complex question that require deep thought and further analysis.

I do think so to thank you for your response. I think People should try to understand each other more. It's to big of a world to fight over little things we need to find ways to understand what is happening and why this in happening.

Hi ladybugr, I have heard of Wicca, but not Fairy Wicca, is there a difference? You say that you chose this because you believe in the earth and it's life, that would make sense to me. I think that most people are brainwashed into believing as they do, from a very young age. Blessings.

Yes there is a difference. the difference is that we believe that there are different planes and in spirits and other thing most people choose to ignore or put of as other thing. But i do agree people do seem to be brainwashed at young ages into believing what they are told and other things to how to dress how to act and what is good and what is bad. boys grow up thinking it's wrong to cry. there are so many things wrong with the way life can be.

I personally think it's because of influence.
For me, I became a Roman Catholic because it's the
religion of my parents and if not for them I wouldn't
be this and I have no choice. I learned to love my faith
and I don't want to change it. I've been tempted into
wicca already before when I was younger but I
realized I should love my God more. I think that wicca is
very wonderful and if only I was raised to follow it, I would.

I believe we are created and i believe in the christian God even if i`m not a christian by the book( i don`t go to church, i seldom pray etc ).
To answer your question i think that is the most logical and beautiful religion once someone becomes familiar with it, not to mention that if you live in an eastern orthodox country like i live you will have access to a lot of cultural and spiritual materials because the orthodoxy is 2000 years old and almost nothing has changed since the beginning.
I think we are making a big mistake when we ask such questions. What makes others to believe what they believe. We think we are right and all the others are wrong, we think they are "brainwashed " like someone else here wrote, we think we are the only ones capable of rational thinking when in fact we are not different, we are no smarter than others and most of the time you won`t find rocket scientists on internet because they have other things to do.An atheist or satanist or whatever can be pretty well brainwashed just like a christian or a muslim.Picking a cool religion or a non religious system of thinking doesn`t make one smarter.

I am Roman Catholic. I choose to follow this religion because of tradition, my involvment in the church, and just overall 'God' Experiences. What have you seen to lead you to a Fairy Wicca religion?

Well a lot of things i always believed the way i do now just have more info. It's rely more about the earth. doing what you feel is right and knowing that what you give is what you get. well it's more to it then that but that is the very basic of it. i believe there is more then one god or godess

I am also a practicing Wiccan and if you can see the post i put a little further done the page you will understand why i was essentially pushed away from christianity. You should never say that this is the only true way. A person should believe what they beleive in because of faith not because it's what their mother or father or family says to. One should always choose for themselves and accept the punishment if they are wrong. But to scare someone into beleiving their way with a Metaphoric "HELL" should be a sin in and of itself. Fear is never a good tool to use to manipulate a persons beleif. I respect everyones beliefs as their choice but don't try to tell me that your religion is the ONLY way to everlasting life. I decide for my self. I hope that this doesn't offend anyone. It is not my intention. Blessed Be!
