How do you handle interviews?

I've interviewed quite a number of applicants and I always opt for the "be as comfy as you are in replying" method. I believe that this way, I can get to see what the applicants' are like. This way I can get a gist of their real attitudes without the professional front. Thing is, there are times that they get "too comfy"
How about you guys? How do you prefer to handle interviews? The strict professional one or a lenient one? Do you have any styles in conducting interviews?

When I was doing a diploma in management studies we did some studying into interviews and during this time we looked at an experiment where to university persuaded the matron of a hospital for 6 months to take on nurses purely on their qualifications with no interviews and found that the results were that during the six months there was a marginal improvement in the standard of the nurses recruited. So it appears that and interview may not be very helpful

Okay but in the nursing profession you can check any claims of qualifications or experience with a phone call.

Oh.. I see so that's the case :) Thanks for sharing. I really am clueless about the medical/nursing field so I really can't put in anymore thoughts or opinions on it. Lolz!

Wow this is indeed amazing but still it might not be a good idea to base an applicant purely on the qualifications stated on their resume as what I have shared before, there are applicants who tend to "Pretty up" their resume much :P This is an interesting study :)

So it's you who interviewed them or you are called in just to check if you can help them out?

I wish more people were like you. I might be working now, and I'm sure I will be soon, or rather soon. The way I usually handle those kind of interviews is, yes I get comfortable. But it seems like no matter what, at times I do get a little nervous. I'm a good working employee once I do get in, right now, I just need to find a company to get in.

I'm sure you'll be able to find one.
I just think that if I try to get the applicant "at ease" we might get more than what we bargained for. Most of the time applicants put on a "professional" face but in reality after the hiring process, it makes the employer think that the person is not actually the one they're looking for.
I'm still happy with my company but there are times when I apply for jobs and go to interviews just for the kicks of it. I just want to experience what it's like when being interviewed. And I'm kind of honest with my replies like "I'm still happy with my current work but I can't help thinking that I'm missing something that's why I tried to apply in this company" or something along that line.
It might not be impressive or something but at least I'm honest :P
