why James Bond uses Code 007??

i have watched all the james bond movies coz my dad was a very big james bond fan. i even think he wants to be like james bond, with all those women he has. anyway, i once saw a james bond movie that they referred to somebody as 008 or was it 006. so i assumed james bond 007 was already the 7th in their line of british intelligence service.. correct me if i'm wrong. i already have that thought eversince

00 is the branch of the secret service (watch casino royale, they mention the fact their are 00 agents). As far as the 7 goes...beats me, could it be there were 6 before him.
Makes you wonder, what would the 10th agent be called? 0010, or 010?

See 00 is name of the first agent which get entry in the field ....
007 is the rank u held in the feild ....
There r not only one agent there r many of them ...
