Sunday April 22,2012 around 11:20am when the fire start in a three door apartment in our place.
I was in our church building across our house when it happened.
Our security guards informed me and I went outside to check.
I saw smoke first and thought it will be controlled soon seeing neighbors trying to stop the fire - and hearing a firetruck siren coming - I feel some relief.
All of a sudden there was a big blast and a big fire comes out- and another blast and another.
My house is just 10 meters away from the burning apartment- thu, there's a firewall, my concern is- one of my neighbor's rooftop is full of laundry and if caught by the blazing fire- that will be worst then.
I hear window glass breaking from houses across the burning apartment- another house was caught on fire from the other side- and more firetruck's siren.
Seeing the fire getting higher and hearing another big blast, I decided to run inside my house to save important papers.
Few brothers (church bros) followed me and we saw a big fire pepping from a firewall gap between my house and the house next from the burning apartment.
My church brothers ask if we have a hose and my son run to our terrace pulling the hose.
They tried to put off the fire from the firewall gap.
Other brothers come shouting us to come out since the fire is getting bigger.
I grab all important papers and run outside after a heavy sad sigh!
YOU WILL NEVER KNOW WHEN DISASTER STRIKE!

i hope you, your family and your neighbors are alright after the fire. the house can be rebuilt if disaster strikes, but we must secure the safety of our family first.
take care sis.
about 24 hours before the fire, we were just having brunch/lunch together with B in galleria...

sorry to hear about your guava tree as it took the brunt of the fire. i have just read bits of the fire story from your responses to others. shock, panic, chaotic, sad, loss, relief and who knows what other emotions were in play during a disaster. let us just be thankful we were spared the hurt and loss of lives... because that would really be very painful.
dec18th several years ago, there was a flash flood in my brother's subdivision in davao city...
it was just a few minutes before the rise of the water near the creek reached my knees. before we got out of the house, the water was waist-deep as we moved to higher ground. then i remembered my company's laptop and all the important work in there... i wanted to go back. my brother went instead. i felt panic when the water continued to rise when about 3-4 minutes later the laptop was seemingly floating on the water. my brother, with arms outstretched, holding the laptop on his palms were 2 feet below the murky water, treading the 20-30 meter distance to safety. i felt relief and pain. i didn't want to lose my brother or have him hurt over my company's laptop. there wasn't time to get the car out or any of our belongings before the entire house was submerged in water.
it was literally a dark night (in all essence of the word) but we recovered from the trauma. it was saddening that 7 lives in the neighborhood were lost that night. an oldie who had a heart attack, a household of 3 kids and a babysitter who were trapped in the house while the parents were attending a christmas party, and a mother and child who was not able to get out of the taxi before it got carried away by muddy water.
i just hope that in every disaster that may hit, we will recover. and i hope that we can keep our family safe away from harm.

Last year there's a flood also in Davao and my friend's son who lives there also encountered the same.
Lost all their belonging and business (auto repair shop) wherein 5 cars under repair is inside the shop's garage.
I never panicked last Sunday- just felt sad thinking any minute I'll be homeless.
I can remember crying when "ondoy" strikes Manila.
I was sleeping soundly and woke up late in the morning with heavy rains.
When I look outside the window-I saw waters all over.
I check on the news and saw how Manila submerged (almost)while I am here- safe and sleeping - I feel so guilty- I cannot understand what I am feeling that time. :xxx
We learn from these experiences- that left us scary memories.
Yes, our loved ones matters most
Miss yah....let's have another date

Thanks God- there's no damaged done, only my guava tree.
This morning I saw the guava tree , half part is burned :(

It is good that everything is safe now~ A quick and drastic act like that, I will do the same like you too if I ever thought of it..Fortunately you know which documents you need to grab if its me I will still in panic and do not know which important papers I need to take with me. I think I need to get it ready at any time as we will never know what will happen in the future. Take care of yourself and same goes to everyone there..(^^)

i have also experienced that 10years ago when our house was burned just before the new year starts...what is important is there is no lives wasted.material things can be bought but human life cannot be brought back...just think of it as one of the trials in your life...if others can survive after what you have experienced im sure you can also...

danger comes unexpectedly so be very careful always...yesterday while i was cruising along the road to my client..i have seen a fire broke out and it started in a water station store...and burn everything around it....i wonder why there is too much fires starting these days...is it too much hot weather or just coincidence?

the weather is also a big factor for causing fire to ignite easily.
The bush fire is due to hot weather and it is one of the biggest disaster caused by fire once it started.
It spread easily due to dried leaves and can eat up a whole forest.

hello cutie
Thanks GOD, I am fine my dear, no one is harmed.
Bhaby was the one who get panicky upon reading my text and called me.
But, I left my bag in our church office and was not able to attend the call.
She keep trying to reach any of my kids- but she can't.
She hopelessly dialled some of my church sis and was able to contact one who happens to be not in our church by that time.
So, my church sister also went on panic upon hearing bhaby'c news and drove to my place, but she was not able to get through since roads were already blocked for vehicles.
I never felt any fear while watching the big fire trying to reach my house.
I was able to cry when everything is under control.
I saw my guava tree half burned- and I realized how close the fire to eat that portion of our house :(
Thanks for all the concern cutie

I never thought too my dear.
That was really scary and I only felt the fear after.
I cried and really shaky after, but during the event- I never felt any fear.
I only felt sad while praying -but I never felt any fear.
Even when I enter my house and saw the fire from the firewall gap- I never felt fear.
But when I step out from my house after gathering all important docu- I felt sad only.

hello viju,
The housemaid run away after leaving the 2 small kids to the authorities.
No one knows where is now- good thing she turn over the kids to the right people.
Maybe she fear of any charges- we never knew, that was a real shock for her , that is for sure.
I am fine now- just feeling a little bit shaky and a bit tired too.
Thanks and have a great week

dear sis
I was having a 50-50 hope yesterday after seeing the fire coming from the firewall gap and eating clothes from the house rooftop next to my house.
I can feel the heat from the fire and from our terrace the fire is barely 3 meters away already.
Imagine a two story 3 door apartment blazing- as high as 5o feet tall or more (im not sure)
The moment I stepped out from my house- I did whisper "goodbye" (lols).
Thanks GOD- yes, my house was spared and no one is harmed either.
Have a great week dear

It is always important to have important numbers to contact when incident like this happens. Most fire incidents are caused by short circuit of electricity. That's what people claim. The cause is actually not that electricity failure. It could have been the stove owner forgot to turn off.

hello yanzalong,
I don't have any problem with contact numbers.
I have important contact numbers saved in my phone in case of emergency.
The fire started when the house maid forget what she is cooking in the kitchen and that started the fire.
Thanks and have a great week

Upon seeing the victims and the house- the tenants and the house owner didn't save any of their belongings and the house is in total useless.
Thanks and thanks for the prayers

Hi jai
Sorry to hear about this shocking news. It's a good thing though that you're house weren't affected since the fire has been put off. Sad that your neighbors have been greatly affected and lose their house. I remember my grandfathers house (where my dad and his siblings grew up) were gone due to a big fire too... And when we're in such situation sometimes we cannot think clearly at all. What to take or what to do... just always be careful and keep important things within reach.

Now we are missing you more- :(
Anyway, as long as you are safe where ever you are, that's enough my dear.
Regarding what happened last Sunday, that was a real shocking experience.
I am very thankful my house is not affected, only my guava tree was caught -but not the whole of it.
It's very sad to see how my neighbor lost their belongings in just a snap.
Take care dear and have a good day
