To make the world a better place, everyone would need to have the thought process that they were going to go out of their way to make it better, and unfortunately, that will never happen. Most people are out for themselves and will step on whoever to get to where they are going. If you see something that needs to be helped or made better, the best thing you can do, is do it yourself and expect nothing back in return. For example, if you notice your kids don't have anywhere to go after school before you get home from work, enroll them in an afterschool program. That will make your kids life better, and yours as well. You can then, if you like the one, tell others which will help them in their lives as well. Whatever you are passionate about, is the best thing to get invovled in.

That is rely good advice thank you.. I wish more people would understand what is going on and what is needed. the world was once a magical world of opportunity and now i don't know what to think we are doing as a hole. I think people complain much about things and do not find the way to do some thing. I think we are all guilty of this thou. If we want to change things we need to take the initiative to do some thing and get the word out about it.

Why do you want the world to be a better place ? And are you willing to pay the price for the world to become a better place ?

I think that we should all do what we can to protect the earth. I want my children to grow up in a safe happy world and i think it depends on what the price is and if it means harming others. I wish we could find ways to bring peace to the world and try to understand what others are going thew and that they understand what we are going for we should all do are part to make the world safe for future generations.

Wow I think thous are good questions and a fair statement to. I do not think we have to put our own need aside all together i think we should just try to get along and do what we think is right without hurting the world. it's a great idea but it rely well not happen people do as they well and not care. I think little things help. Recycling, planting flowers and trees things like that. other then this i do not know this is why i am asking.

I asked this because this is my favorite type of topic. Why should i care about the earth or the future generations ? Why shouldn`t i try to be a " winner " even if that means to abuse others and to forget about the earth and the future generations ? Where did we got the idea we have to be good from ? Isn`t that " brainwashing " ?
Unfortunately most people who ask this question don`t realize how huge the price is to make the world a better place, especially for those living in the western civilization. We can`t make the world a better place as long as our high standard of living is built mostly on exploiting people from poor countries.Think about it.

All animals should be treated kindly and all people should care for the environment. World peace should happen so no more wars could occur. I wish that train travel could become much cheaper and people would want to use it instead of fly for shorter distances like London to Rome. I think education: nursery, primary school, secondary school and university should be free.

Animals that are treated right are just as important to us as other humans. If you mistreat them they will turn on you because they no longer trust you but if you treat them like you would your own children you will have a friend and loyal companion for the rest of your life.

i think the word responsibility must be central again in the consciousness of the people. as long as people do not feel responsible for what they do on the planet and others, the planet is going down the drain. humanity is competing against each other, rather than cooperating. we lose our common goals. each country and group pursue their own goals and interest. if we reshape our consciousness and reclaim our common goals, then this place will become better.

That is a great way to look at it. I think you are right but how could you get this to happen?

There are so mamy things that we as individuals can do to make the world a better place. However, philosophical one can get, basically, one may need to (1) have an attitute and aptitude change, and (2) be able to effectively manage these changes so that- in the end- it supports good living, and goodwill towards mankind.
Of course, that managing the changes are difficult to be achieved when many persons are not equipped to handle simple and complex issues, while those who control the resources, are 'not entirely' prepared to risk doing anything significant to change the 'status quo', for obvious reasons!
The solutions to many of the 'ills' that affect human existence cannot be changed overnight; even if all mankind exhibit the will to effect change, simultaneously. Of interest, bourne out of evil (that already exist in the world), the diversity of mankind is evident. Hence even when cures -of all kinds, scope and dimensions- are discovered, countermeasures put in place, the truth is that: (a) both good and bad people have, and can be jointly exploited or partially exploited to varying degrees; (b) nobody can guarantee that the appropriate benefits can be accrued to the masses- instead of varying degrees of hardship being meted out to them, over time. I could go on and on and on.
However, In summary, I think that if individuals decide to make simple possitive attitude and aptitute adjustments in their lives, and these adjustments are effectively managed, these actions can make the world a better place.

I like how you explained that. I think you are right. People have to want to do it.

decency, common courtesy, dignity, humblness, understanding, believing in the honesty of people who you meet, giving people a chance to prove themselves despite their past, and loyalty to the ones you love

That would be an amazing task for the world i try to be like that. But it can be hard to do. I think it is great in theory but most would not care to even try. I think people need to start seeing the bigger picture and thus is why i wrote this post. If others could take a step back and think even once would they change? what would they do to make this world better for the next generation?

I honestly think that if it was possible for everyone to have the same level of basic needs... Everyone had a home everyone had enough food and water, everyone had medical care. That people would be better off health wise.
Socially...People compete too much for the next "Best" item. People need to learn to be nicer to each other and get along.

I think that the main thing that would make the world a better place would be if we were able to get on with other people without feeling the need to cause wars all of the time. If you think about some of the things that people to war about, they just seen unfair because at the end of the day everyone wants the same things from their life including peace, food and water; but some people just seem to think that they should have the right to destroy the things that people have worked hard for, and this can often cause wars.

i think that love friendship and respect is what the world needs more of now a days. Anyone can make a difference it is just finding out what role they have to play in life. I think parents need to spend more time with their kids so they don't go off into gangs and stuff. Just being yourself is a key role in the world for everyone. i find many people have multiple personality's for different things but never have much time for their true self so i think we all need to step into our true-selves and aim for the things we've always dreamed of.

I think you have a good point. we need to be who we are and give more to thous around us. we all play different rolls to play for different people in are live and we need to think about what they do for us. We need to stop taking things for granted and step up to things. I wish people would under stand freedom comes at a price. That you always have to work hard and some times even fight for it.
