On The Way To Become Professional Web Designer

I feel a professional web designer has to be very creative in order to bring the best out his or her web design career. Apart from knowing the technology, one should have a strong passion towards design to produce the best web pages. Aesthetic aspect of web pages is something that doesn't come naturally, it requires lot of research and modifications before that final look. What is your thoughts on this ? Please share.

you are right, if you are designing a website it definatly has to look good or people wont be interested in the site so having artistic flare is important. I think there is good money in web design so it can be a good job.

Once you establish yourself, that's it. People will come to you for more work. Maintaining a portfolio of your best jobs will get you more business.

Thats true of any business really you need to get established to get better opportunities but it sounds like your doing well so good luck i hope you make your first million soon. If you do dont forget to come and say hello on Mylot occassionally.

If you want to become a professional web designer, you'll need training and creativity.
But there are lots of people out there who can design a website even amateurs who know a thing or two. So you'll probably need to find a way to stand out from the crowd.
A small advice from me : Do not join crowd sourcing websites or website designing contests. It devalues your service and other web designers service.
In crowd sourcing websites, you'll have to do spec work (it's a waste of time) and there's no guarantee that you'll get paid. You'll probably have to submit a lot in order to compete with others. Only one chosen by the client gets paid.

You are exactly right in your view about crowd sourcing. I feel creativity is the foremost thing to produce stunning web pages. A great degree of visualization skills to adapt an idea is very much required here. Starting from mockup design to the final product, one has to keep an eye for details.

I agree with you for a person to be a designer he should have some skills like creativity, visualization and a liking of art. Being a web designer I think should not be difficult if one has the interest and liking for art at first place. As for putting down your visualization in actual using technologies only will require training. In training we come to now different aspects related to the general usability, the usability of the group going to use the design etc.

Designing the word itself tells you need lot of creativity.Creativity is god's gift.Only few people will understand about creativity.I am also a professional web designer.When i was started my career i am hungry for creativity.But clients and management started killing it.With in one year they killed my creativity,i became a robot.what ever they say i will do work like school kid.
