Silly cat!

I cooked chicken tonight and, needless to say, the cats were rather excited about it. I did not share, well, a little of the drippings, but not a lot. So, because the roomie is... banged up... I took her plate into her room. When I came out I had to chase Timus, who was trying to come in, out, too. Well, he ran ahead and then from one side of the hallway jumped onto a barrel cat tree I got from freecycle that the cats love so much, they haven't let me put out in the playpen yet. This was only about 3 feet over and 2 feet up. It was, however, more or less over one of the black and white girls, I think it was Blossom. Said girl also jumped in the air, her front feet going forward but her back feet going some other direction and higher than her front! I gave a bark of laughter, but she landed and kept on going like it never happened. Timus looked at me like "what are you laughing at?" I know life would be a lot simpler with fewer cats, but then I would miss sights like this! You ever seen a cat try and jump in two different directions?

Long ago and far away, Mona was stung be a bee and jumped about 4 feet straight up, turned around in mid-air, and ran in the opposite direction on air. It was just like in the cartoons.

We had a cat briefly, not the brightest of cats, and we had put a mirror down on the floor. She was walking along and walked onto the mirror. She looked down, and saw... I guess she thought it was a hole she was walking over. She went straight up about 18 inches and started running in the air. When she landed she was going so fast, her feet couldn't get purchase on the glass and continued to run in place for another second before she took off. We didn't see her for an hour!

I can't say that I've seen a cat try to jump in two directions at once, but I have seen a cat jump up onto an ironing board that was no longer there! We used to have a game with her when I came home from work: I'd chase her around the house for a while until she finally always jumped up onto the ironing board where I petted her. But one day, my mother had moved the ironing board to a different room. And after I chased the cat around the house, she did what she always did and jumped up as if to land on the ironing board, but the board wasn't there, and the cat landed on the floor looking completely confused.

That's funny! Now, I had a cat jump for a window that didn't exist... I had this bedroom with no window, so I hung up a curtain to pretend I had a window and this normally intelligent cat was playing and jumped for the window that didn't exist. Okay, I can figure that she might do it once, but then she did it again!

LOL! Apparently, cats are creatures of habit and get fooled by their own expectations sometimes.

Well, multiple cats, multiple opportunities for entertainment. Of course, chicken is so enticing, almost more than turkey. The more the merrier when it comes to looking for good food.

Yeah, they were swarming for the drippings. Pong was sleeping on the counter top next to the oven. But I knew what would happen if I let them have as much of those as they'd like!

Cats never cease to amaze me, especially mine. He gets wound up, bangs into something HARD, then spins around and keeps going, never missing a second. LOL

That sounds like Rygel and Daisy. In fact, Daisy jumped on the table tried to jump over Solo, slipped and landed on top of him. She just climbed off and he was so surprised he didn't even know how to react, and he's one of our grumpier cats!

That sounds so cute! I wish I could have seen that! I absolutely love watching cats and all their funny mannerisms. I've never had my single cat try to jump in multiple directions, but she has done flips in the air when I've teased her with her toys. I've never managed to catch that on camera, but it's like she's twisting in midair, and it's so fun to watch.

The cat olympics is what that sounds like! SUch silly antics! They say cats are soothing creatures to a human's ill mood and this post just proves it! I've not had a cat in some time.

I had a cat do a back flip once, nearly ended up on her back, but it was because her back legs just out sprung the front ones!

yes its a joy to have pets and they always keep us laughing. but they are just like babies. you have to keep them out of stuff and take care of them. but like babies they are well worth it. plus, they have an another advantage. they wont grow up and cuss you out, get into crime and trouble like that. so much better then kids. plus they always love you no matter what

I don't think I've seen any kitties try that. I have, however, seen them miss their targets when leaping. They then just give me a look as if to say, "I meant to do that."

Most of mine are good jumpers, but when they miss, they splat spectacularly!

They are so comical. I think they get twisted up and forget what they were trying to do. My cat is pretty chubby and when she goes to clean her bottom she leaps into the air and lets out a chirp. I don't know if that means is bad or what. I tell her her inner spring went off like in the cartoons when we were kids.

The night before Daisy jumped on the table and then wanted to jump over Solo, slipped and landed on him. She scrambled off and sat there looking innocent while Solo was looking for the rock that landed on him!

Ha, I've saw lots of times!!!! Have you tried using a fake cockroach to play with a cat? My cats like to chase it, so I bought three at home. Onetime, I take 2 cockroaches to play with my cat. I put one in front of his nose and gradually raised it higher and higher. My cat also lifted its body with 2 legs. Finally the cockroach gets too high, my cat decided to jump. When he was going to jump, I suddenly took another cockroach and put it on his right. And then he jumped up with his body turn right..... What a twist!!!

I thought I had two crazy cats - but this beats any anecdote I could tell about my two beauties! I do love cats' reactions when you laugh at them. One of mine LOVES to be laughed at - and shows off all the more - the other gets really offended when I laugh at her!

I know what you mean. Actually, most of mine get offended, but since we generally praise them if they do something, they don't care too much. Rygel and Daisy are the funniest, besides the current kitten, who ever that may be, and they both think laughter is praise at this point!
