Hello Lotters, You know I used to hate CNN for also being Bias on some points of their news, though some think that Fox was a lot worse, which i think it is. but it seemed in this situation, the RT news of Russia has showned it's own biases in this matter. Not a referral link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMmfL1AIsd4 I guess they did not research on this. the truth is that after the Cold War ended, US military was really planning to leave. they thought it was Erap and his cohorts forced them to leave, for me it was just a scene for erap to gain higher political ground. because if you can see Japan, they still have the US bases there. right now, the new agreement which is Balikatan or Veteran forces agreement is really needed now. Chinese Government protesting a US-Philippine military exercises? hello! there was also a Chinese and Russian Military exercises that was reported recently and some joint exercise too with China and Indonesia. US wouldn't be too serious in the Philippines if China isn't being bully with the Phils. for their right to claim on the islands..

The US forces left because of Erap? Did they ever leave? The US forces I mean. They're just there hovering in our backyard like bees, but they have never left. This news report must have been written by someone who doesn't know much about Philippine history. But then again, was there anyone who really took notice of our history? Even in the US, people there don't know that the Filipinos fought side by side with the Americans during WWII. All they know is that Americans were stationed here. They don't even know that the Philippines was an American colony that only ended after WWII. I feel sad for our government because I can see how shoddy and how we are being looked down upon by China. We are already crying foul, but is there anybody listening to our complaints? In fairness to our government, they are trying so hard to settle this matter with the Chinese as diplomatic as possible. Because we are poor and because every nation in the world knows that we cannot defend ourselves because our military and government is weak, no one really minds if China makes their moves on our country. My friends and I are planning to visit Palawan and Batanes within the year. Our reasons for this is we want to travel these islands while it's not yet being claimed by China. I won't be surprised if the day comes that we need to get a travel visa just to visit an island that used to be ours.

I had to brush up on my history because from what I recall, Erap was a senator during the time that SBMA and Clark were turned over to the Philippine government, which was in 1991. It was the eruption of Pinatubo that actually drove them away because the Pinatubo eruption made almost every town in Central Luzon uninhabitable. I remember going to Tarlac and Olongapo in 1992-1993 where I thought we were crossing a desert. It turned out to be part of the national highway where only the roofs of houses could be seen. Everything was white, covered with ash. One had to cover their eyes, nose and mouth because you would be caked with the ash as your vehicle drives across the national highway. This is the reason why we have Balikatan. The US doesn't have a base here anymore, but they can port in SBMA or any military place here in our country. I never knew Erap thought so high of himself that he was able to drive the US forces from Clark airfield and SBMA.

yeah, they were leaving anyway, and every one fell for such deception..they didn't need to listen to erap because they were on the process of leaving.

Hello Anne, what I meant to say was that the US forces were already planning to leave their Bases in Subic since the cold war was over, it was probably delayed because of the Bulkan Pinatubo incident. Erap was just making a scene thinking that he was literally driving off United States forces from subic, but they were planning to leave anyways. but they have been here now but not in subic because of the VFA

the claims of china of the whole south china sea including the west philippine sea is preposterous. and it says it has historical evidence to prove and back-up its claim. then, it is only the international court of justice that can mediate and decide on this case. both china and the philippines can bring their case with their evidences and then they can submit the fate of the disputed islands to the court.

Hello Bing28, NO, we can't afford to experience another war since we are totally unprepared, we have too many civilians than soldiers, we even whine about our soldiers. I wonder how we are going to survive in case of war since we lack troops military hardwark and the will of the people

Well, i hate that China don't like that Philippines has military trainings with United States while they are having with their own with Russia. In addition, Balikatan Exercises are done every year and why do they complain just now. Philippines don't complain to there naval trainings but it seems that China is afraid to the Philippines which i think it must be the reverse. :) With regards to claiming with the spratlys and scarborough shoal, Philippines own it according to the law but China doesn't want it to be like that, they do not want to based it on the law. Even though china is powerful than the philippines he must know its limitations. They are just cowards.

Hello Erjnsimon, We've been doing that VFE or Balikatan for a long time and it's only NOW that they're complaining hahahaChina is out of their minds and has their own world. they wanted to be like United States but bullying with this small islands isn't really going to convince us to be their allies

I agree! ! ! They are really out of their minds. They are not thinking at all. Maybe they should find another planet to live in so that they will have the rights to claim all the lands there. Hahaha.

china is a lie , why do they need to fight for the right on the two (2) islands which is very far from them. In the Sea Law of International US base the two (2) islands are owned by the Philippines legally. They just want the islands for the oil & minerals has in it.

Hello Twinkz, Yeah, they have lied to us so many times that i don't know what they really want. but i know they want those two islands already.that's not fair because we need the oil supplies too to lessen the importation of OIL. this is so unfair! they should look for some where else

In terms of bullying and intimidation. We can’t defeat China in terms of owning Panatag Shoal. China is so big already yet it’s still interested in our small islands. They should just stay away from our islands and focus on their own problem. Maybe they know we don’t have military warfare.

Hello Honest_efforts, That's why they won't stay away from us because we don't have the military advances like they do. the diplomacy now i think won't work either because they are now insisting on claiming it, but we have a stand and shouldn't be intervene now because we had it for a long time.

I think there should be no military forces on the islands.

Hello Iynna, that's right the agreement is that there not supposed to be any kind of ships in the islands until the negotiations are done. but the chinese govt. kept breaking their promise and ends up giving Philippines one heck of an heart attack.
