Why is Evian so expensive?

I'm not sure exactly why, but comparing Evian to other bottled water available in convenience stores, the price difference is so big. I can buy around 3-4 of other brands to just one... ONE bottle of Evian water. Why is this so?

Because you are buying a name brand! Bottled water that could have been bottled anywhere. Just like the expensive shoes and purses. You are buying a label. I drink filtered water and I would never buy Evian unless I was out somewhere and ran out of my filtered water.

I think they charge that much because they claim all of their water comes from the same source in the Northern Alpine Mountains. Other brands use different sources, some even filter tapwater several times and under different conditions. But as with any product the price is also driven by market performance; enough people are willing to pay the higher price to get that brand, and that justifies the cost.
