On the earth there are hundreds of languages and dialects.People use their tongues and vocal chords to communicate their thoughts and feelings with each other. The sounds coming from their mouths enter the ears and are transferred to the brain which by electrical impulses communicates to us the meaning of whatever is heard. Now when we die and enter the afterlife, we leave the body behind without its sense organs since they are all perishable. However our senses which are in an abstract form along with our thoughts go in spirit form to the afterlife. It is said that the spirit body is of the same form as that of the gross body left behind. Moreover there are no religions, castes, creeds, sects or languages there as everything is spirit in the astral world. So how does one communicate? I believe it is by thought. Thought has no language and does not require any sense organ. It is also the most subtle,is lightning fast and is the most creative. What do you think, my fellow mylotters?

LANGUAGE ...to be precise is the prime means of communication. Since communication is all that matters, the choice of several languages and dialects gain little prominence. All living creatures communicate..even the ants and the caterpillars .How? Perhaps in their own devised linguistic concepts...It is conveyance of ideas which is of primary importance. In human communication, language acts as a better choice. In other animals, birds and various other mammals INSTINCTIVE BEHAVIOR plays supreme in matters of communication and conveying of ideas and warnings.

Great discussion. I always thought that once we are in the afterlife we would be communicating telepathically. I think the reason I believe this is because in my dreams I don't seem to communicate any other way. That is why I also believe the way we dream has to do with the afterlife and how we will be living in this demension.

You know, I honestly tend to think that it is our mother tongue that is used in the afterlife. I think that the reason that I tend to think in this way is because I believe that the afterlife is actually like a parallel universe. The difference between where we are now and where we will be in the future is the fact that we are perishable in this life, but the afterlife is something that goes on forever, in my beliefs.

Sound waves want matter as source for starting as well as media to move. Without body, if there is chance to communicate, it may be with special type of electro magnetic waves carrying intentions. The same intention has no variation using various languages. Hence I think languages are irrevelant, if afterlife is possible.

I think that you are on the right track. We will have celestial bodies, so it makes sense that we u se celestial speech.

I think that from what I have read and heard that there is no language in the after life. There is sort of a psychic communication going on. When people die and then come back to life they talk about this. And the warm, bright light. It all sounds like a very interesting situation.

If there is such a thing as the afterlife, I imagine that there would not be any form of spoken language like there is on earth. I think you are right in thinking that it would be thought, but maybe more of an intuitive thought like feelings and emotion instead of spoken thought. Who really knows?

dear anna,
I also wonder what language will be use then.
But, I had one in mind- it's the language of love- no word is needed to communicate and understand each other.
I am sure, there is no more anger, no hatred, no pain, no suffering, no tears in afterlife- but LOVE.

That's interesting...I think we will speak the old language spoken in the time of Noah.According to a Biblical story in Genesis Chapter 10 to 11,people in those times spoke one language. Then they build the tower of Babel to reach the heavens. However God knows their plans, became angry, destroyed the tower, and scattered the people on land speaking different languages. The full story can be read on this link http://www.ldolphin.org/babel.html .It's up to you to believe it or not.

I think, there is no need to communicate there. As soon as ur mind triggers some thought then its automatically gets communicated. But mostly i assume we will be thoughtless and hence no need to worry. There they would be not necessity to talk and express our feelings..We will be mostly in the meditative phase.
But,lets come out of the presumption.i wish to communicate in my own language to be more expressive.I think there all will be knowing all languages so no need to worry.Or even as soon as we depart from our soul, all might be automatically communicating in one common language, heavenly one..not our worldly ones..

I always thought there was an instant translator . Meaning I would speak English and Beethoven would hear what I said in German. He would speak German and I would hear English. But you do have a point. If we all are just spirits then How do we communicate?

Sounds being crazy? Well it is really a funnny thing how will they communicate? Well maybe english because it is widely used internationally. Haha. But before we try to answer that one, do afterlife really exist or just an imagination? Maybe, they will begin just like a maybe. No knowledge at all on the new world they go to. Need to study the new language to be use. I just don't know how people can think about this things. Haha.
