Christmas presents for kids - when do you stop?

How do you stop getting more stuff for your kids? My home seems to be bursting but we still keep getting more because they want this, need that, would love the other thing. When/where do you draw the line or do you start in October like me and stop when the last shop closes Crimbo Eve? I keep saying it's not about presents but no-one believes me.

I isn't about the presents , its about loving your children, i have the same problem you have, i literally have 1 whole room full of toys, and i mean full. Yet i buy them whatever i think they want. I just want them to have things and be happy and i don't think there is anything wrong with that. Some people will say we are spoiling them but you know what, every good parent spoils their child i don't care if they admit it or not. So go on and buy the toys, whats so bad about putting a smile on your kids face and yours as well!!!

I'm so glad it's not just us, feel we've gone a bit over the top this year because we get them things whenever they need them and if they see something they like if we can afford it. I've got to the stage where I need to wrap everything and make a list of who's got what because I'm afraid of being unfair, also my younger one has his birthday 12 December so I don't want him to miss out as it's so near to Crimbo. I truly want them to be happy it's just so hard not to keep giving. My older son has special needs which means we all do as it makes life for his brother more difficult too. Sometimes I think I don't give them all they need so and make up by giving in to requests, I don't work so I can always be here,so I guess it's just torturing myself cos they're gonna be happy whatever anyway.

Yeah i am a stay at home mom too, and i know what you mean i have to make sure that i get them each the same amount of toys or whatever it is i am buying and that i spend around the same amount or i feel guilty. I just love them so much and i want them to have what they want, and i will always be that way i am sure, what ever they want if i can do it i will give them, i don't care what people say!!! We're awesome parents, WOOT!!!!!

all I hear at the moment is I want.... and even tho I know we've done enough already part of me still wants to give in so they are happy. I've had to write a list as we've forgotten what we've got - I call that enough but my 7 year old seems really aware of the present factor for the first time and I don't want him to be disappointed. I'm just too soft!
