How Do We Ensure The Best For Our Children After We're Gone?

Is it better, do you think, to make your children's immediate personal well being as great as possible (wealth etc), for their future, or to leave behind a better world (environment, society and culture, economy) for them to live in, perhaps at the detriment to their immediate personal well being?
Obviously leaving your children wealthy and well educated in a world that is happier, cleaner and materially wealthier than than one we were born into would be best, and is what I think most of us strive for. However, what if only one could be achieved? Would you prefer to leave your children rich but in a bad world, hoping their wealth will prevent harm coming to them, or leave them poorer than most but in a world where that won't matter enough to harm them?

This is a question all parents think about, to leave their children with a wealth of education. If they are knowledgeable, they have wealth because they can look after themselves. They have the values and principles of their parents instilled in them. They will know how to be fair with others, they will know how to treat people, and they will take this with them as we will take our good values, good deeds and bad deeds to the grave. You would want them to be self-sufficient and educated about life because when they know what works and what does not work to get ahead in life they will be better prepared for their own future.

I personally would go for the education. With education the child will be able to create wealth of his/her own, as well as take care of the environment or, if needed, bring it back to a viable state. If we were to leave children with what we think should be enough to sustain them, or even make them wealthy, but don't give them the knowledge of how to correctly handle the money, we have doomed the fate of the world because a fool and his money are soon parted.

Hi Shard Aerliss: I think that as happen with other dilemmas, it's better to find an intermediate point. I would try to give my children the right education which includes to educate them on how important working for their planet is. They need to know that, they need to be raised to have the potential to keep the fight and develop their talent and as I do this I'll be working for a better world too at the same time.

ShardAerliss ..I would chose to leave them with values to take care of themselves and the world around them. However, if I must chose between the two options you cited, I would choose wealth and hope I have given them enough values to use it wisely for themselves and their fellow man and the world around them.
