I know what you mean. I hate that too. They have to show the worst of everything. I understand why, but they have to keep on. I hurt for the animals that I see suffering, which is why I also avoid the news. I never know what is going on because I avoid watching the news. I must change that, but I can't seem to make myself watch the news. I don't want to hear about abused children and animals. Or suffering of them.

Theone I can't stand us the one playing such sad music and the suffering animals looking straight into the camera. It's on Animal Planet. I can't watch it. I have to look away.

The media likes to sensationalise the news. By actually showing the dying animals the shock factor is higher, which means more people that are going to want to watch/read about it. Unfortunately the news is not just about reporting facts, first and foremost it's a business. And a business needs to make good profit.

I don't particularly like those commercials either, however I know it is important for some people to see those images. Until people can stop being cruel to animals, these images need to be shown. I feel bad for the cow who feel ill, but I want to know if there is mad cow disease because even though I don't eat red meat, my husband and son do. We don't buy red meat for the house, but they will eat it when we go out to eat. Who knows where that meat comes from.

The pictures are to get people's attention. Numbers and facts don't get people to watch the news or catches their attention. Unless you are an animal advocate, into being health, ect someone saying 25% of ground beef is made from worn old, old dairy cows isn't going to grab your attention or 85% of ground beef has what the FDA considers a safe level of e. coli in it because of how animals are slaughtered. Not to mention all the hormones and junk that cows are fed. Unless you are buying organic, grain feed beef I would be extremely worried about your ground beef. Your average processed food eating person who doesn't care about what they eat isn't going to listen without images.

There is a animal commercial that has a video of a cow being tipped over in a farm yard. It is horrible to watch. I love animals too and I hate to see this. Its a commercial where they are asking for money. I see it and I change the channel until I think it is over.

I saw that video briefly. It was a little disturbing. I do understand why they showed it, but I also love animals and hate seeing them suffer as well. But it is scary that they found another case of it here in america again. It does make you wonder. And also makes you not want to buy beef anymore.

Maybe it was intended to make people think twice about buying and eating beef. All in all, beef is really not good for anyone. And with all these corporate farms today and food being shipped from other countries, you never know what you're eating. Free range is the best way to go, but it is way to expensive.

I am sorry that you feel that way seeing these animals. Maybe your friend does not know the severity it does to your feelings. They might think that in their own way they are helping these animals by posting it in their personal accounts or websites. By sharing their thoughts and opinions they are sharing it to the world about the cruelties that are still rampant nowadays.

I'm like you Bon, I don't want or need to see that stuff. Recently, here in Aus, we had a problem with our live import beef being slaughtered inhumanely in very distressing ways...this happened in spite of the fact that we paid for and built an abattoir and paid for and trained staff to do the job properly. These were the issues but they showed horrible, gruesome photos of exactly what was happening to these poor beasts. It was disgusting and soul destroying.
I reckon it's something to do with politics. There are people who do watch these things and then make a big song and dance about it to try and get the government agencies concerned to act on it. Most people, like you and I are sickened by these sights but some people are not.
There are also those who get off on these disturbing pictures.
For whatever reason people choose to show this stuff, (I consider it "R" rated,) like you, I think it's totally unnecessary and I consider such sights do more harm than good.

That is how media is, they would try to put reality into our faces...and our own idealogies are gone, we try to be happy amidst it yet they would rub it in our faces that the world is that cruel.

Oh yes...it bothers me too. It is so sad to see suffering animals that there is nothing that you can do to help...just watch them suffer. I just can't. I might watch or see something once but that is usually enough to darken my mind and make me think about it alot. I guess I am sensitive too.

I agree, especially about the ASPCA commercial. I think that they show these things not only to reinforce what they are saying but also to shock people and get reactions such as the ones we have, because they think that will motivate people to do something, especially when money is involved. However, the first time the commercial was on my little one was watching television with me, and she was so upset she started crying.
Of course I turned the channel as quickly as possible, but we were watching a child appropriate show when the commercial came on, and I don't think that I should have to worry about commercials being inappropriate when watching an otherwise child appropriate show is on.

Hi bunnybon
Unfortunately, misery sells today. And we all have become commercial and would not hesitate to make money even on someones corpse. Like it or not. Though I dont have any tele at home but yes, I can visualize the gory stuff you mention and how shameless these people who record it for the media make it.
In contrast to your noble thoughts and emotional feelings, the tele or media makers even pray for tsunamis to happen, earthquakes to happen so that people property and others suffer and they get a chance to mint their money.
