My grandchildren have a cat. He´s the most concieted creature and he loves to pose for pictures. I´m sure it has something to do with his name. When my daughter brught him home, I asked my eldest granddaughter how was she going to name him. She said his name was Ferguson. Wow, I said. It looks almost like a crowned prince´s name. So he is, she replied. Do you think cats are concieted? Do you think names have influence in that? Share

I am more a dog fan, but, never mind if it is a dog of a cat, there is something any pet owner knows, and it is that they have personality, just like humans do. There are shy ones, other hiperactive, conceited, but I do not think the cat is aware of his name, but is a beautiful name though.

Indeed, cats and dogs are the best pets, the more familiar with humans, and yes, they have their own personality, usually, similar to that of the owner, specially if the animal got to us while puppy. And, althought there is no agreement about if animals has a soul or not, I don´t see how, could they have intelligence, personality and feelings, without one, so, yes, I think that there may be place for them in heaven, and, in my opinion, this makes cruelty towards animals a much greater sin, than it is actually consider to.

Cruelty is a sign of a disturbed mind, wich all too often, are coward ones, that´s why children, women and animals are the primary targets, the helpless they are, the more chances of being subject of cruelty increases.

I wonder many times why are we so cruel PERIOD. We, human beings, are cruel to each other. And many of us prefer the ones who cannot fight back. Animals fall in that category. But there´s also the bullying ay school and at work. And there are the wars.

Yep, cats are conceited, but in a good way :)...they are highly intelligent and very warm creatures. It is true their names do tend to reflect their personalities. :)

I have yet to see a humble cat. There is a neighbor cat that comes to my garden to visit every day. One would think he´s a owner of the house. I think that dogs are warmer than cats though.

hmmmm, thta would be true :), I should also tell u the first day he entered your yrad, he thought "this is now my property" They can be very affectionate, no joke, they can, my cats were very affectionate, but it is on their terms, you cannot avoid that :)

After all, they are first grade cousins to tigers. It has to be on their own terms.

Hi Marg, i am a cat and dog lover. Your grandchildren cat is very lovely. How old is that cat now? It makes me remembered back one of my lovely cats, which i adored it a lot. I do believed that the name that we give to it does influenced it a lot. It had almost the same character with your grandchildren cat. It likes to pose a lot whenever saw anyone holding a camera. Too bad, the photo now is not with me, or else i can post it here for you. Thanks for sharing such a lovely photo here. Hope you are doing fine now...

Ohh Marg, that's the character of cat. They like to visit and conquer many places. Seems like your grandchildren cat had become the owner of your garden. Hope i would have the chance to see him one day...

Ferguson must be around 4 years old, I guess. I would know more exactly if he was my cat. In my house I only have cat visitors from the neighborhood. But that cat thinks he´s the owner of my garden.

I´m a dog person too. Ferguson in not my own cat, but my grandchildren´s. I use to remain aloof from cats but they have come to my life through my grandchildren. Ferguson is in the youngest daughter´s house and Mitzifuzzi, a she cat, belongs to one of my eldest grandsons (son of my other daughter.

I think it is quite possible, we have two cats the first is a fat ginger cat and he is named Odi after the dog in garfield, he actually chases out dogs around the yard, the other cat is my daughters and she named her Nibbles and she is constantly eating, so maybe there is something to a name.

I have seen that animals have their own personalily. I can see it easier in dogs, because I´m a dog person. But When I visit my daughter´s houses, I can see the cats are different.

People name their pets according to what they see in them or what makes them feel towards the pet. Most of the time, what you express towards the pet bounces back to you. They are raised to your expectations and in general your guidance is the only path they will walk through.
