I have watched a television program and it says that eating processed meat like those in hamburgers and hotdogs are bad for your health. Not only because of the fat content but also along with the various preservatives that can hinder well-being. Unfortunately, I am a burger lover! But because of what I watched I became pretty conscious now with what I eat. Any ideas about making a healthy and lifestyle-friendly hamburger? Thanks!

I think the only thing that makes the hamburger unhealthy
is the meat. I know some recipes where the patties were replaced
by vegetables. There are recipes available online where the patties
are actually vegetables but looks and tastes like meat, so
that's a good substitute for the meat.

You can find recipes for healthy burgers from health gurus. Ingredients are mainly vegetables and less seasoning. But there are secret component that will make the hamburgers taste like real meat. It is also in the plating that will throw away your doubts on what you are eating is still delicious.

You can substitute processed burger patties to mushroom or banana heart. If you know how to make them into burger patties then there's no problem with making them as a healthy option for your homemade burger. Just include two slices of tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber and some light mayonnaise as a dressing.

I have not had a burger since pink slime has been in the news. It just grossed me out.

i suggest you make your own patty., hmmmm,., how about buying meat, then ask the vendor if he/she can cut it in circles. all you have to do is put it in a bowl with minced garlic and onions, add a little bit of soy sauce. maybe 1 to 2 hours is enough. then after that, fry it in a pan with a small amount of oil. your burger may be thinner than the usual burger you buy in a convenience store, but at least you know its clean, fresh and healthy. dont forget to add tomatoes, lettuce and some cheese to make it healthier.

You can make a tofu patties instead to make it more healthier. Just replace the meat by tofu when you're making your patties, you can also buy a ready made one in the supermarket. I've tried it and in my opinion it's delicious.

i am a burger lover myself. the occasional quarter-pounder or whopper isnt bad, but a truly healthy burger is a burger that you grill yourself.
it goes without saying that everything done in excess is bad. in this case, eat too many burgers without exercise with get you fat and lead to health problems.
as you can see, the burger is a balanced diet in itself. you got the patty for the protein, the lettuce(and tomatoes, onions and pickles)for fiber and the buns for carbs. the cheese is an added bonus for extra flavor. this is a healthy burger (except a vegan burger would probably be healthier). Eating a burger with too much meat or too much cheese without the greens would be like shoving a cork down your arteries.
i can just tell you, you can eat whatever burger you want as long as its not too meaty or cheesy. if you do eat that sort, the best way to compensate is through execise. and water.
