We need Facebook dislike button

I know facebook has a like button, it will encourage a few people to make great status, upload great picture and sharing good link so they got "like" by many people. It is really a great feature in facebook, although some of the member misuse it, and begging around to be like by other.
But i think, facebook also need a new feature. That is, facebook dislike. With many spam status, stupid status, bad picture, etc, i think facebook should make a dislike button so people will be careful not to upload bad picture and make useless or spam status. Off course, there should be some penalty for people with a lot of dislike, or else people will end up collecting the dislike.
What do you think about this? Please share what your thought with us.

In my opinion, having a dislike button would open to more animosities in facebook.
At least if you don't hit the button "like" you will not be disliked by your friends. Just skip it and just "like" what you really like.
I am like that and i am happy that way.

Well i don't really mind saying i dislike thing when i really dislike thing. I think that as a friend, we should said we dislike the bad thing they do and like the good thing they do. If we are afraid to said what we dislike, then i think we actually letting our friend doing a wrong thing.

Well, it back again to us. I don't think i will dislike my boss status, but for people that i know better, i think it is better to give them dislike instead of directly talk to them. I don't think they will be offended, since we are friend. i usually speak my mind when i see think that i don't like. I usually make comment if i don't like other people status, i said it on their status.

Oh yes my friend , we should tell our friend what we dislike in him/her , but that will be when it's you and him/her to hear it.
But through facebook, where others can see it, i think it's offending, my friend. I myself, wouldn't like that.

I totally agree with you, every day I browse FB pages, and find so much nonsense and stupid thing. Actually, I got from a friend, a request some of this past days, when she invited me to add this new "Dislike" buttom, I followed the instructions but nothing happened, I wish this is not scam.

Any so-called Dislike button is likely to be either a completely useless app designed merely to collect your information or will actually deliver a trojan or virus. If Facebook don't provide one (which they do, actually ... it's called the Report dialog), then there isn't one.

@albto_568 : Well i will not use any apps that allow me to use dislike, if it is 3rd party apps, then it is useless. What i want is the real dislike button from facebook. Because only facebook that can apply those button to all of it's user, not only for the user that use the apps.
@owlwings : Yes, facebook doesn't provide one, but this is the first time i hear about dislike button apps. And it seem it is pretty dangerous to add them if your information is true. Thanks for the information my friend.

I think, we should have the freedom to say when something does not like us, as much as we have it to say something do, about the report dialog, this is to report abuse, or pages with inapropiate content, is not the best option for just silly or bad taste things we all see all the time in FB.

There is. You can report anything which you feel inappropriate. Read the Facebook Help pages to find out how.

If I just dislike something slightly, I do what any sensible person would do and ignore it (or hide it). If the person is continually posting stuff I dislike, I just block them. That sort of person is not someone I'd consider a friend, anyway.
Facebook has quite sufficient tools that you DON'T have to be annoyed by other people if you don't want to be.

@owlwings, i agree with foxontherails, it is for something like a bad jokes, stupid picture, etc. It is not for serious mistake. Like something that you can still give to a friend. I know we can hide people status and update, but what i want to make, is to make them realize that people doesn't really like what they do. It help them to realize what is good and what is not good. Thanks for your respond my friend, have a nice day.
@foxontherails : thanks for the clarification my friend. What you said it is really what i meant. I want to slap, not kill.

That would be when you SEVERELY dislike something. I think what the author of this post's saying is for less serious cases. You know, more like a small slap on the wrist than the alligator bite that we call "report when something's inappropriate" on Facebook.

I think adding a dislike button opens too many nasty doors for potential hate and dislike spamming. With the dislike button being on YouTube I think it's created a lot of hate and shaming where someone really isn't doing anything bad, just controversial like expressing beliefs or maybe they're getting loads of hate for the way they look rather than the content of their videos. I think having a like button is better because you get to see how much positive feedback there is and there's less room for negative hate.

Or you could be like me and just visit Facebook once a month, so you're not at all bothered by the spam on Facebook, cause you never see it!
Anyway, I think only allowing for positive feedback is good because it keeps the trolls from having one more outlet to express their ugliness.

Well i know, people can use dislike button to spread hate. But off course, rating in youtube actually help me a lot. Usually the like and dislike show how good a video is. And although some actually use it to spread hate, but many of them actually proof to be useful.

I agree it is like if you dislike their post then do not visit their pages or remove them from your list because people get hurt when they see that people hate what they do or post for no reason. Maybe that was Mark has in mind when he decided on putting the like button only

They are already thiking about it,
But I think they would call it hate button.
They are still delebrating and there's gonna be one in 6 months time or so.
Personally I really need that button because some things on facebook can be so annoying.

Well i don't think it is wise to put "hate" in the name. It is feels to offending. Off course i think facebook will thanks more of that. The name hate will feels like a bad thing. Dislike sound more friendly than hate, but it is only on my opinion, i don't know about the other.

Well yes my friend. And if there is a dislike button, it will be fun to dislike every post that we don't like. We can actually smile when people post spam, because we can actually dislike them ( which some how kinda give us the feeling of giving them punishment)

You are rught, the facebook team are still contemplating on the name they should use, according to the news they also want to add other buttons so let's just wait and see what they decide and come up with finally.
It would be so cool to have the dislike button because some posts I see daily on that facebook are just too annoying for me to handle. We really need it

While I myself like the concept of dislike button, actually I don't really agree with that. This dislike feature is quiet offensive and may bring more hatred if they don't make it anonymous.
I have enough of spammy and stupid contents on my facebook news feed, I don't want to see any other hatred..

Well i think as bad as what dislike button can cause, it will never be as fatal as timeline. The worst thing the dislike button can do is make people more careful about what to said. Off course facebook could also make a trial for the function. I think it will have many pro and contra, but the idea of disliking people status seems pretty interesting for me

Yes, Facebook really should have a dislike button because often times I have to just go to "hide story" if I don't want to see something.

Well yes my friend. It will help us to give a little punishment to people who make useless status or annoying status. It will not make their id get heavy punishment, but it will make him / her realize that people not really like what he / she do with facebook. Thanks for your respond my friend.

I think that it has always been a little bit strange that people can "like" something, but cannot say that they "dislike" it. However, I don't think that the people who make the website should add it to their plan for the future, because I think that people might start to bully others by "disliking" things that they post. You probably wouldn't believe how much of a negative effect comments like that can have on people. Whenever somebody tells me that they don't like something that I am wearing or doing it upsets me, and it would be far too easy on the internet for people to be nasty and do things like that.

That would be pretty cool to have, but not if you have to be punished for getting them yourself. People will abuse this system and use it to harass other users if that were the case.

Well it all depend again on the user. If they set their status to only be viewed to friend only, then if they got many dislike, they will realize that they are making bad comment / bad upload. Off course the penalty shouldn't be to happy for people who got dislike, like maybe, limit their status update to only three per hour ( especially for spammer ) or something like that.

Yes, reporting a user seems kinda harsh and it make the user might be kicked out from facebook. But with dislike button, it simply a simple slap that are meant to remind them, not to punish them. Anyway, that is what i think. Thanks for your respond in this discussion my friend.

Well yes, it is really a good idea. Off course idea is just an idea without an implementation. I hope facebook staff can read this kind of discussion and make this function available. I think this kind of function will also get support and Contra from the facebook member.
