what a bad day

As a Ph.D student, all I have everyday are experiments and data. I have to make every effort to keep friendly with those damn instruments; even a small mistake could lead to the failure of my experiment. What's more, a small mistake may damage the instruments; then endless criticism from the adminstrator. So I must take care of every step. But sometimes in order to simulate the environment in daily use, I have to create some harsh conditons, such as high temperature. This morning I was using Raman and at the same time heating the sample stage to about 420oC. Then I found when the temperature reached 400oC, it didn't rise anymore. So I stopped the circulating water and then trouble and criticism came, separately from the instrument and the adminstrator. Instruments. Hard to manage and fair to use.
