Do You Find It Hard To Dispose Something With Sentimental Value?

I Still recall the month and year I got my first pay check from my current employer. I went to Winners and bought a new pair of Rockport shoes. It has been more than 3 years now. The shoelace needs to be replaced and the sides of the shoe shows signs of wear and tear. Honestly, I would like to continue using the shoes because it is a perfect fit. It keeps my feet warm during winter and dry during wet seasons. It has a sentimental value so I find it hard to let go. Even if it only cost less than a hundred bucks. Do you have something that you want to keep even if it has passed its useful life?

Yes yes yes, I find it hard to dispose things
that are very important to me and those that have
been a part of my life. Even if those things are just
cheap and can be easy to find, there is still a sentimental
value to these things. I have a whole chest of sentimental
things in my room. That is where I hide my sentimental things.

Then don't throw them away just wear them around the house if you want to and use another pair for when you go out. I practicly wear my shoes until I walk out of them. Infact I used one pair of shoes to the point where bit of the souls kept getting left behind as i walked about the house :D :P

Yes, I do. This is why my room is full of junk. I still keep my old phones, even though some of them are not even functional. When I want to buy something, it's usually hard for me to let go of the old thing. Like my camera, I've had my digital camera for four years, I bought it with my own paycheck so I guess you can relate with this. There was a time when I really wanted to buy a new one. My friend even said that she'd buy mine 'cause it's still in good quality and she's not into the latest stuff too. I'm not either but I sometimes get bored of my stuff so I want new ones. So anyway, I backed out the last minute and up to now, it's still the camera I use.

I have a lot of things I should get rid of, but I just can't. Except my books and a few stuffed toys nothing has too much sentimental value for me, but I still keep a lot of stuff. I have clothes and shoes that I almost never wore...They come very handy when I have to throw out a pair of shoes for example and can't afford to buy new ones.

I have a box where I keep the things that has sentimental values to me. Even they stayed there for how many years, I just keep them because they have a value to me. I opened it when I have time and recalled the memories on that thing. Before, it was just a small box, but now it piled up that I have to store it in large box. They were plane tickets, love letters, books, and other stuffs. Now, I slowly disposed the things that has a less value to me because it already consumed a lot of space in my room.

Most of us carry with us memories of past events, attachments towards kith and kin, likeness for certain objects, things used by ancestors etc etc. The sentimental attachment towards objects ,places and persons is quite an ordinary experience in life. The string or bond of affection associated with older things is quite a human instinct .Though some objects get outdated and of little use with the passing of years, some people choose to keep those for themselves exhibiting some kind of extreme reluctance in discarding the same. Sentimentalism to a certain extent is appreciable and desirable.

I'm totally a pack rat. I keep many things that I think just might be of some use some day. I even keep a lot of empty boxes because I think I might need them someday. I keep other things think that they might be worth something in the future. So if there is something that has sentimental value to me, I'm even more likely to keep it.

I can definitely relate to what you are talking about. I tend to hang onto a lot of things from the past, and not all of them are things that people would consider sentimental. I still have a lot of my old books from college stashed away. I just like having certain things for the memories. Lets me know what I was doing at that particular point in my life.

I'm one of the worst keepers... okay, not too extreme, but I collect every kind of memory (I have a huge folder of paper-based everything, such as tickets-public transport, theatre, museums, boardings passes for plabes-, pics, postcards, drawings whatever)... oh and I have this toy Donald Duck which is like this twist it and it's gonna walk kind of thing from my childhood... I kept it, but it doesn't even work now :).
