What brand on cellphone is the best in terms of performance and cost-worthiness

I plan to replace my old cellphone with a new one. There are lots of new phones now out there that has different features like WiFi, built in LCD projectors and so on. But I simply cannot pick a good brand of phone. What brand of phone do you use. Is it worth your money?

I prefer nokia or samsung. It is tried and tested for its durability. I'm a nokia user eversince.
Because I'm on a tight budget, I bought a cellphone with a brand that is so popular here now. It is so popular as it is endorsed by celebrities here and because of its low price. I bought one and within the day, I am saddened. It is not of good quality and I don't think it would last for years. I hope I saved up on what I originally want to buy. What a waste of money! I was thinking about the others who had bought cellphone units of that brand. Some are students who save to buy a cellphone and yet that cellphone brand isn't good enough.
I remembered in economics class in college that if a product is endorsed by famous celebrity or people, the product isn't worth buying..
