I remember joining oDesk a long time ago but never really tried it. Can I still use that old account or did my account expired already? Now I decided I wanted to give oDesk a try but I wanted to start in the right foot. Can anyone share your knowledge and expertise on the best ways to start earning in oDesk? What are some of the most simple tasks to start from? How do I apply for tasks and how do I develop good reputation in oDesk?

I also registered in Odesk, just the same thing I tried to apply on some of their task but no one hires maybe because I don't have any experience. But how can you build good reputation if they don't try to hire you. Anyway goodluck betterdays, my advice try and try until you succeed. :)

Thanks a lot, godslove25! I also think with oDesk, persistence is one of the keys to make some money here. Most people would probably stop trying after seeing that difficulties in the beginning, but as many of those who are earning from it are saying, the moment they receive their first job and first payment and they got some good ratings, then the whole process becomes a lot easier for them and they get more and more offers coming. So I think the most difficult part in oDesk is getting that first job and finishing it well. If the job is well done, then more jobs are coming your way. I may try oDesk in the near future.

I tried oDesk too but it didn't really work for me. I had the same problem as you, I couldn't get anyone to hire me. For my friend though, it worked out for her. She's the one who told me about it, and that's all she does for work. She said that her husband created their account and that that has been his part time job for a long time. It's hard at first, they say, but once you get hired and get credentials, it gets easier. I wouldn't know 'cause I didn't stick around long enough to find out.

I see what you mean. That's probably the reason why I'm hesitant in starting oDesk out. Another reason is that I don't think I'm qualified in the many tasks available there, but I think there should be a few of them I could work on. I hope someone who is a member of oDesk give me tips on what are the simplest tasks to take there which anyone can do. I might try oDesk as a source of additional income.
