Cultivate the habit of reading.

I am fond of reading books. It is one of my hobbies and interests. I read books everyday. I always always have something to read. I read novels, comics, and magazines. I am interested in different genres.

I was a voracious reader in my high school years until i had my job. Because of my job's demand my reading becomes lesser. And it has become lesser and lesser when i also became a mother at the same time a working wife. My reading further declined because i now become a soap addict and a mylotter . Though, i learned a lot through reading, not only does it enriched my vocabulary.

The first habit I have is reading. It started since I learned how to read.The first books that caught my interest are those that have the stories of magics, fairies, heroes. I love reading stories that have happy endings. I love reading myths too as it answers my curiosity. Whenever I read, my imagination runs. I love day dreaming and I also imagine myself on of the characters I am reading. Now that I am already grown up, I still have the habit of reading. Opposite to what I love to read when I was a kid, now I love to read history. I love reading about different countries. I love reading text that will satisfy me, gives me information and entertain me. Reading makes me forget of the time. I have no boring time whenever I am with my favorite books, In fact, I can enjoy my days without tv, radio or even internet as long I have interesting books around me. That is how addict I am with reading.

Hi Jricky, there are many researches that show that good readers get high paying jobs, while those who do not read are stuck in low paying jobs. In a sense, it is true. Those who hold high paying position in the companies must be very knowledgeable about many subjects. They cannot do without reading. They have to upgrade their skills, and that means read many books.

Reading and writing came to me in quite an extraordinary way. I was 12, living in apartheid South Africa - not considered white or considered black - and had a horrible childhood. There were a lot of deaths in the family when I was 7 years old; we were also kids of divorce which meant our mother had to work during the day and there was very little time for individual attention.I started to brood. I had no comfort. I was scared of all the deaths. Then my grandfather introduced me to books at the age of four or five and it was the beginning of my writing journey. At the age of 12 I wrote a story for a TV program and sent it off to the network. It was probably junk and I never heard back. The point is that at that time already I was interested in the written word and in stories and storytelling and my preoccupation with books and reading was a coping mechanism for me; I just did not know it.

Everybody can learn from reading. It is a great help for learning and understanding. As a teacher, I motivate my students to read and read and read. To cultivate the habit of reading of my students makes it easier for teachers to teach them. Wide readers are knowledgeable of everything.
