Same or separate passwords for each site?

Do you use separate passwords for each site you log in or use a single password for all the sites or use a single password for a number of sites and separate passwords for the rest? If you use different passwords for different sites, how do you memorize them and while logging in a particular site, how do you use it from memory? Is it practically feasible/ possible to remember all those passwords by memory? It may be that you maintain a record in black and white and use it while logging in a particular site. But in that case, the document must be preserved preciously in safe custody so that it is out of reach of every body; otherwise, unpleasant things may happen. There is also an option left open to you; you may store all the vital documents in your computer with a different password for that particular file which you need to memorize. But in that case also, there lies the risk of hacking and it is more dangerous than the previous way of preservation of the document as because in the former, it may be leaked out to and may be under possession of those who may or may not be tech savvy but in the latter it would definitely be under possession of those who are tech savvy.

Keep to a simple formula. I advise my clients to use a simple way but it will give a unique password for each site. Most sites require a password to be a minimum of 6 chars and some want a number and some want an upper case and yet again some sites want your password to include a character outside the alphabet. So my method is to remember a 6 char word and then add on the initials of the site you are using. For instance - make your root word say - jaCk32 - - and then add on ml for Mylot to make ml+jaCk32 - and for Facebook make fb+jaCk32 - and for Hotmail make hm+jaCk32 and so on. You can of course make Hotmail H+jaCk32-M but whatever formula you choose - keep to it. It's a system that really works and is very secure.

I have a variety of different passwords that I will use for the different sites that I am on, and which password is used for which site is based on the nature of the site. For example, I have variations on the same password that I will use for all of my financial websites. Then for the fun sites, I have a really simple password that I will use. I also have a different password that I use for facebook and for twitter. It would be too hard for me to remember unique passwords for each site, but having just a few different ones that I use works really well for me.

I think it is safe t use different passwords in every site you log into- it's safer..the harder the password the better. it is hard to memorize them though- so i keep them written down somewhere- and i hide it in a safe place.

I do have some different passwords. I also do try and change them often. I also know that having the same password for each and every site just makes it much easier for a hacker to invade your sites and take over. I have a bunch of them committed to memory, so it is not hard for me. But if you write them down on paper, then you will eventually remember each one for each site. And I will be changing my passwords soon.

There are 2 or 3 different passwords I usually use, I can't remember 55 different passwords AND which sites I use them for. I have some different ones, though, because there are sites where you have to have a number in it, one you don't have to... then sites where I have more accounts... I have all the safety conditions on my computer, and my passwords aren't really that easily guessable (so not 12345, iloveyou, my name and birth year and stuff).

i use separate passwords for every site, i have a list of the passwords with me... though it is convenient to use just one for all - it is not safe especially if you are not keeping the browsing secured. other people can and will be able to find a way to get to your site.

I use roboform a program that keeps my passwords safe and will recall them on demand. I trust this program but still keep my bank password seperate. Since I do surveys I have many passwords.

I use different passwords on each site, and I write the passwords down in calendar. I don't write the actual names of the sites in my calendar, I write my personal abbreviations so that no one would be able to figure out where the passwords belong in case I lose my calendar. I haven't written my passwords for paypal and netbanking in my calendar or anywhere else, I only keep them in my head. It would be a lot easier to use the same password on each site, but I don't want to do that, because in case someone discover my password on one site they have access to any other site that I use. My emails was hacked once and since that time I have been exspecially careful.

i have separate passwords for each site that i joined so that in case that one of my password is hacked, the other sites will not be affected and will not be opened since they have different passwords.
