Hi there. may I ask again to most of those who know a lot about mylot. What are some reasons why the popularity rate of the star beside the name sometimes tend to decrease in number or sometimes increased again. What affects that thing and who has the control of it? I hope I will be clarified with that matter. Thank you.

The star is not a popularity rate It increases and decreases depending on how others rate our activity using the +/- beside our posts. You can read about it here: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq11.aspx and here you can understand how to use the rating system: http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx

Oh i get it now. So those +/- thing were the ratings of your reputation. so it is not actually a popularity thing but a reputation. So when people would say that they are popular here in mylot what does that mean? For me (well correct me if I am wrong) I think that is based on the number of friends you earn here in mylot.

I don't know what 'popularity' signifies here. Some are popular and their topics receive many response while others are popular because they are controversial (but then often have a low star because others bash them ) You can use the smilies since you reached 200. They are under 'myLot code' to the left of the box where you type

jndlponti: The rating increases if more mylot members give + for the responses given by us or the replies we have posted in our discussions. Occasionally when a few members mark - then rating comes down. This happens for all of us. For people with less number of postings - less than 1000 even a few - will result in rating coming down. In case we respond in our friends' discussions and that too in topics where we are 100% confident then we may get + from others and that will improving rating. Other members have given the link in FAQ. pl go thro that. best wishes

Ratings are obtained on percentages of plus and negative ratings. Obviously those with a lower activity rating will need fewr ratings for their star to change in either direction while for those with a higher number it will be the oppostie. That is why, once we have a high niumber, our star often seems to get stuck and not move either up or down.

Oh is that it?Well that explains then Why some 95/100 has only number 9 on their stars while some has number 10 in the star. But then the highest of it is just 10 right? Like about 100/100?

Hi ravisivan thank you very much for that clarification. But may I ask again what if it is already above 1000 has the guarantee of no reputation decrease? decrease only happens to those below 1000? I wasn't really clear to that.

jandelponti 509 p oints and you still have not read the FAQ's or even the guidelines. okay we users rate one others posts with plus for good, minus if its insulting and report any post breaking rules by pressing the exclamation point, Yeas your number is your reputation and it goes up if a lot of us markyou positive and if it goes down you have had someone give you a minus rating. You should have read this information for yourself. we have control over the ratings of us users. it pays to have a red or blue star as our reputations are figured in with the earnings algorithm., do not ask about this in a discussion either as that could get your discussion deleted. please go read the information in the guidelines and all the frequently asked questions.you were supposed to do this before you ever started tp post anything. The admins here sent you links to the guidelines and to the FAQ's and expected you to read both of them and learn how to use mylot to your best advantage. Now do go read the g uidelines and the FAQ's too.

Oh then if that would be the case then this discussion should be deleted anytime then? It's okay. That would not be a problem at all. Anyways I ask questions which I could get direct answers. Well Have you meet people with special thinking skills? Like they do not look on much of the letters because it could make them confuse or we say disclectic? That is me. So I do not like reading a very very long issue. I would much appreciate if they are all numbers but that would be much impossible right? That is why I prefer asking questions here for there are a lot of mylotters who are kind enough to give me direct answers. Well thanks anyway. I don't think you are that friendly enough but still you cared to response. Thanks.

This question interested me too because I never knew it before (I've been here for 2 days so ...) :D After reading a couple of answers, I now finally know what it means. Thank you for this thread, I know it wasn't your purpose to help others with it but it did help me! ;)

Glad it did help someone too. I started it for I think having the right and direct answer from the vet members here would give me much more understanding than reading all those words in FAQ. Yes I did read them before I started up here it was about 6 years now.Its juts that I have stop using mylot for about a year or two then just the other week I started using it again. But on my attitude I don't like to read over and over something that I have read already because words confuses me.... But then just so glad to have these couple of friendly folks out here who patiently explained to me over the things I was confused of. Hope you get your star sooner. Enjoy mylotting and hope to see you more here in mylot.
