Besides the obvious looking facts like gross fat pants not being able to fit, and never being able to try on clothes without crying. I have finally seen the results of gaining to much wieght. When I met my husbad I was a senior in high school I wieghed 140 (still overwieght for my age and height but better than now) I played sports and I worked out about 4 hours a day. So It was good. Since then I have been married for 6 years and I have had 3 kids, I have gained 85 pounds since then. And and for lack of a better word it sucks. I have always had asthma but when I was in high school and in shape it never really bothered me, even when I played sports. But the other day I got outside to mow the grass and I thought I was going to pass out. I wasn't able to breath all night and I had to go to the doctor and get a rescue inhaler the next day. It has been 3 days since then and I still can't breath right. I am so disgusted with myself that I let it get this far. I used to want to lose wieght for looks, I never thought I would want to lose wieght for health. but now I am scared, and I feel like if I don't lose wieght bad things could happen.

Hi SisssyRose, you indeed have reasons to be concern about
your health if mowing one day causes you to need a doctor
the next day..do you think its because of your alligeries
from the grass, your asthma or from the weight...
I know the feeling about trying to lose some excess weight.
I mean a lot of excess weight...I plan to start at the
local YMCA soon just for the pool....My back is to bad to
do physical excercise, but I am thinking swimming will help
me....
Good luck anf feel better.....

If they offer water walking or arthritis water exercises try those as well. I bet it will make you feel so much better. Good luck with the changes.

Hi, I know that it is hard and at times it feels impossible to achieve our dreams. Hang in there. =) A simple phrase has always help to inspire me, and it goes as follows. " If you can see it, then you will achieve it" . I have had to work hard to get into shape. I had been in an automobile accident that took my life but I was revived. The effects of this accident have been without me for over 9 years. Throughout this time ,I have had three children and slowly recuperated. I feel lots better and want to encourage you to keep going forward. You can do it. =) Life can be stressful, but remember you are in control. Good Luck!

You really need to loose your weight since it now affects your breathing. If you are having difficulty in breathing that is a great sign that you are not in good health. Yes you really need to loose weight not for the looks but for the sake of your health. This is the exact reason why I maintain my regular exercise of walking it helps me a lot to maintain a good shape.

Well, on the bright side, fat people in the past were a sign of wealth and they were adored...

Yes, being overweight is known to cause a variety of health problems. Having children tends to leave many women with unwanted weight gain. If you don't take care of losing it right away, you tend to gain even more then. I hope you'll be able to concentrate and stick to a better diet and try to start off with easy exercise.

Gaining weight yikess !!!!
and looking bad in every dress you wear. this is one of the most difficult htings in the world. Gaining weight. and the worst thing is that once you gain weight you cant reduce it. and to reduce it takes a long long time.
i wos a skinny girl till 4 or 5 months before but then only a few days ago just out of curiosity i weighed myself and shrieked !! 5 kg. can you believe it. my weight out of the blue out of nowhere increased 5 kg. then i ran in my mind my eating habits and it really is my fault. the intake of calories in my diet is more then the intake of healthy foods. chocolates, butter chips all this junk has increased my weight and now i walk a little and get out of breath quickly. my legs start to ache with just a bit of heavy work. and on top of all i do not look good in any clothes no matter how good they are. and my face is also looking a bit chubby to be honest not to mention the tummy being so visible when i sit leaning on the wall. sigh.

You may need to wear a dust mask when you mow, or even if you go outside. I have heard that eating apples or drinking apple juice are very good for people with asthma, I am not sure why. Eating apples also is helpful for losing weight. Good luck to you. I need to lose a lot of weight as well.

I am also struggling to lose weight fast right now, because I have this problem of scoliosis, a disorder involving my backbone where an unwanted curvature is progressing really bad my back is now aching, and my physician advised me to not gain weight because the gained weight will aggravate the problem I have with my back bone.

You are very right. Society tells us that we shouldn't be over-weight because of how it looks but that is just the very least of your problems if you gain weight. I am in no way obese but I am about 20 pounds more than I should be and I can tell it. My back hurts if I stand for too long, I get out of breath if I walk too many flights of stairs in a row etc. I'm working on shedding a few pounds to get back down near my ideal weight for health reasons, not looks.

SissyRose, it's really more beneficial for anyone to be fit - not just for the looks, but for your overall well being. My husband was overweight when we met, and he's been having too much stress at work and his BP goes up, often. So, he made it a goal to lose weight and be fit. He was successful with that goal and he got the shape he wanted and is happier, too. He lost 70lbs in 6months by biking, lifting weights, and strict diet.

Gaining weight is bad for some and good for some too. I have a friend who's very thin and sickly before so she was advised by the doctor to drink a certain food supplement. So she gained weight but she looks better. I've been gaining weight since I check it last week. I also notice my clothes are getting tight too. I find it alarming because diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure runs in the family. My mom and sister are asthmatic too. My mom suffered so much from asthma that she had a very terrible experience with it. So she decided to lose weight for health purposes. I am trying to lose weight also and living a healthy life. I don't want to suffer in the future. If you feel good, you look good. Anyway looking good is just a bonus, it's the health that matters most. :)
