How to design own website /blog?

Hello everyone, I want to design my own blog of my own choice rather than ready made templates on the blog, I have good experience in HTML and Java, please anyone tell what kind of skill I need more to design my website? How many things I have to learn more?

It seems to me you are just reinventing the wheel. Blogger is a really good place to blog, and also meet new people. Blogging isn't going to do you much good, if you are blogging somewhere where no one is ever going to read it. HTML is the most important thing to know. Java script is probably the second thing you would want to know, because there is much you can do with it.

Your experience in computer code such as HTML and Java will definitely prove to be useful when you are dealing with your own website. This is because you are in a better position to customise your blog. Very often, people who are not familiar with compter language are unable to totally customise our blogs or websites according to where we want this picture to be or how wide this column to be.
For the type of skills you need to design your website, it's best to visit online hosts which sell domain names and find out what computer language they actually use. For example, Weebly.com uses flash and your Java knowledge may come in useful. However, I wouldn't recommend Weebly as the loading of your page slows down when large size attachments like pictures are uploaded.
