My husband has a dream about a road trip in Scandinavia. So far it is only a dream, but we talked about doing it one day. We live in the south of Denmark so we want drive to the north of Denmark and catch a ferry to Norway. When we arrive in Norway we want to drive all the way to the very north of Norway (North Cape) From the north of Norway we want to cross the border to Sweden and drive all the way from the north of Sweden to the south of Sweden. From Sweden there is bridge to Denmark so we would be able to get back to Denmark that way.
Do you like roadtrips? Why/why not? Which places would you visit if you had the chance to go on a long roadtrip in your own country or abroad?

Me and my husband also love roadtrips. However, since our country is an archipelago, long trips may require us to take a boat trip in between. Unlike most countries in the continents of Europe and America, here in the Philippines, provinces are separated by bodies of water.
If we get a chance to do roadtrips outside the country, we'd love to explore Europe.

In my country we only take a boat if we want to visit one of the small islands, the main islands are connected my bridges. It hasn't always been that way, but today we have many bridges. I think that it must be a different experience to travel in the Philippines where you have to sail from one place to another if you are going on a long trip. I would like to visit many different islands when I go the Philippines, hopefully that will happen one day in the future. I think that Europe is a great place to go on a road trip. You will be able to experience my different countries and cultures and it is easy to get from one country to another.

Visitors from some countries can visit Europe without a visa, the rest of the countries need a visa. As far as I know the Philippines is not one of the countries where you can visit Europe without a visa, so you would need to get a Schengen visa. With a Schengen visa you can visit the countries in western Europe (except the UK and Ireland) and some countries in eastern Europe. The border control between the Schengen countries has been abolished, so you don't need to get a visa for every single country if you have a Schengen visa. I am not sure about the European countries outside the Schengen area, but I think that you will have to get a visa for each country.

Yeah, I heard that in Europe, people travel from one country to another easily by train. Do you know if a foreigner like me, would need a visa for each country I want to visit in Europe?

wow how i wish i could go to those places someday
i love going on a trip but the problem is most of the time i get sick i can't enjoy it and so i would force myself to just go to sleep because everything's going around, moving and making me dizzy, even when riding ferries.

I am sorry to hear that, that must make travelling very difficult for you. My mother has the same problem as you and she doesn't like to travel because she gets dizzy and feels bad when she is travelling. Sometimes she travels anyway because she has to get from one place to another, but she doesn't enjoy the trip.

I would love to do a road trip all around England. I passed my practical driving test just over two years ago. I would wait for a few years until I am a more experienced driver. We drive on the left side of the road and the majority of other countries drive on the right side of the road. I have ridden a bike on the right side successfully in some other countries on my travels.
When I was 18 years old I traveled around Europe by train after working as a children's nanny in Finland. I began in Finland on my lovely trip and explored some of Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. I loved it up there but I found it very pricey. I like the sound of you and your husband doing a road trip around Scandinavia. I like road trips too and think they are a great way to explore.
I traveled around South America by bus and took one train trip. I visited Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Uruguay. I would not have wished to drive that sort of distance myself in a hire car. They are were long journeys due to the distances involved.

My husband and I want to travel around in England, Wales and Scotland one day, but we are not going to drive our own car. My husband is a afraid of driving in the left side of the road, because he has never tried that. We are going to use public transportation instead. The trip where you visited Finland, Norway, Sweden and Danmark sounds interesting, but it is true that it isn't a cheap place to travel. The countries in eastern Europe are much cheaper to visit. I look forward to exploring the north of Norway and the north of Sweden, I have never been there.

We have a farm in Ontario Canada where we spend the summer, and we also have a winter place in South Texas USA, where we enjoy the warm winters.
For many years we have been driving 3000 kilometers from one place to the other. We drive 750 K each day, and over-night at Motels. Because of rising costs of fuel and accommodation we have recently invested in a car at each place, and we will save money by flying.

Yes, fuel has become very expensive, and I think it is good idea to have two cars and fly from from one place to another. That way you also save the money for accomodation. 3000 kilometers that is a lot. I am from a small country. In my country it is easy to drive from the south to the north in one day (about 400 kilometers) and I can't really imagine what it is like to drive 3000 kilometers.

It sounds like a very amazing trip you and your husband want to make, and, frankly speaking, I don´t understand why you talked about it as a dream, they all are neighboring countries, with no visa problems. I live in Costa Rica, in Central America, and I like long road trips, when younger, me and my friends use to travel this way to watched football games in Honduras and Guatemala, we tried to cross to Mexico one time, but couldn´t cross the border. Right now, we are planning going to the Football cup in Brazil, by road, it will be truly amazing as well, I hope you can make yours real soon, and have lots of fun.

That is true, they are neighbouring countries and we don't need a visa, but we need money for gas, accomodation, food etc and we don't have that money at the moment, and that is main reason we will have to wait. But it is very nice that we don't have to worry about getting a visa and that kind of things. When we have the money for the trip we will be able to travel. I have never been to Central America, but I know a bit about your country, because I had a penpal from San Jose for many years. Today I don't have snailmail penpals anymore, but we are friends on Facebook. Your trip to Honduras and Guatemala sounds interesting. Have a great time in Brazil

Indeed, you need money for all this things, yet, traveling by road, is more fun and less expensive than flying. I still like snailmail, I have some penpals from several places of the world, I find it so much funny than e-mail, and, somehow, we can get close to people this way. Thanks, I expect to have a great time in the World Cup, I just hope that my national team can make it this time as well. I wish you can make your trip soon, as well.

Long road trips are really nice for someone who loves to think a lot. i always love going from abudhabi towards sharjah or to dubai. the long highway with the wind blowing your hair along with it is a great feeling .also with the music on in a loud voice and a cup of coffee with a chocolate crossiant would do wonders. but it can also be a bit tiring sitting in just one position and also a car ride is afterall a car ride. it does not have the comfort of home. but for me i love road trips.

I also love road trips. I love to listen to my favourite music while I am driving, and a cup coffee is always a good thing My husband I often go on road trips in our own country, but we haven't gone on a road trip abroad yet. We want to try that in the future. It is true at a car seat isn't as comfortable as a home, but I don't mind, because I love to drive and I love to explore new places.

I have always said that I would like to go on a road trip around America if I had the money to be able to do so. I would love to be able to take a few months to just go over there and drive around the different places that there were to see until I ran out of money and then I would have to go home again. I think that travelling is one of the things that people should try to do in their lives if there is any way that they can afford to do so. I hope that in the summer I will be able to take a lot of time out in order to travel around places that I really like the look of.

A road trip in America is also one of my dreams. I think that it would be amazing to travel around for a couple of months and visit a lot of different places. I already have some ideas about the places that I would like to visit, but I am sure that there are lots of other interesting places that I haven't heard about yet. I agree with the thing that you wrote about travelling. I think that we can learn so much from travelling and that everyone should try it if they are able to do it. I will not be able to travel much this summer, because I have to save my money for the the big trip in November and December, but that is okay, because I really look forward to my trip to Asia.

Never liked it or thought I would ever do them. But since the past 6 years I am and I do like it. I don't like the crowdy roads so mostly drive at nights the biggest distances, I like to feel free and go where ever I like to go. Though Scandinavia is not in my dreams I think you should make it come true. Some dreams you should live now, not wait till it's too late or you are (way) older. At that moment you will have complete different experiences about that journey as you would have now.

That is true. It is not going to happen in the near future, because we don't have the money for it at the moment, but I hope can it do before we get old. I know that it has been my husband's dream for a long time. He has visited Norway before, but he has never been to the very north of Norway and neither have I. Sometimes we like things that we never thought we were going to like as you experienced with road trips. It is also a relatively new experience for me, not because I didn't like it in the past but because my ex-boyfriend and I never had a car.

I love road trips, imo it's the best kind of travelling there is. It has a kind of freedom you just don't have with other kinds of vacations and means of transportation. It's kinda my dream to do the whole of the US, but that's pretty much impossible. For one, I'll probably never have the money and even if I do you need to document almost your whole trip before you're even allowed to enter the country. So I'll keep it to road trips in Europe for the time being.
I did a road trip that went through Germany, Denmark and Sweden all the way to Norway. It was pretty awesome, so best of luck with that vacation.

I have enjoyed all of my trips, but I agree that a road trip gives you a different kind of freedom. You can travel whenever you like, you don't have to worry about missing the train or the bus and you can visit places where there is no public transportation. There are no luggage restrictions either, and it is not like a plane where you are only allowed to bring a certain amount of luggage. I think that a road trip in the US would be amazing, but it is much easier to stick to Europe because we don't have to worry about the documents that you need when you want to visit the US. It is great to hear that you enjoyed your road trip in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. I look forward to visiting Sweden and Norway.

Yes, it is definetely best to travel with our loved ones or our friends. It is more fun than travelling alone, and when we travel with friends or loved ones we have someone to share the experiences with, that is always nice. I think that my husband and I are going to have a great road trip in Scandinavia. It is not going to happen in the near future, but I think that we will be able to fullfill my husband's dream one day.

When I was a schoolgirl it was fashionable for parents to leave their kids to grandparents and to go on moterbikes on long road trips to the mountains. My parents return with raspberries and strawberries. i remember I waited for them a lot.Now I am old enough and I wouldn't there go on a long road trip in the mountains.I walk with difficulty through the city on foot and it costs me pain to reach the work.I use the minibus in most days. You should estimate your endurance

I have never gone on a road trip in the mountains, because we don't have mountains in my country. The thing you wrote about estimating your endurance is important. We should keep that in mind when we plan our trips. My way of travelling has changed compared to the time when I was very young. I had more energy at that time. Today I still like to plan an active vacation but not as active as 15 years ago.
