I recently decided that I absolutely need to lose weight. Not cause I want to look better which I do but because I have been starting to have health issues at my ripe old age of 24. I am 5 foot 1 and I weigh 225.. my bmi is skyrocketed, and I have asthma. I have been having major problems breathing here lately and I know it's cause of the weight. I posted about it a couple of days ago, but anyways. I decided that I have to lose wieght. So here's what I have done. I made a deal with myself. My first goal is 25 pounds which will put me at a still big 200, but it is a good goal. I have decided and agreed with my husband that once I reach this goal I will put a dishwasher on layaway. I am a mom of 3 and a wife, So I am doing dishes by hand for alot of people and all my kids are 4 and under so I dont let them do their own dishes. So I figured it would be a good incentive to start off with. does anyone else have goals like this? does anyone else do things like this?

I am losing weight at the moment, and I have managed to lose six and a half stone in the past year. I have found that setting yourself small goals with rewards at the end is one of the best things that I did, because it meant that I felt as though I always had something that I could be working towards. At the moment, I have one more stone to lose before I reach my goal, and I have already decided that when I lose the rest of my weight I am going to buy myself some new straighteners to go with the new look that I have got for myself over the course of losing the weight.

I think what you are doing is great. Tiny reachable goals are so much better than out ragious impossible to reach within a short time kind of goals.

I hope that incentive will work well for you and keep you motivated to reach your goal. My husband used to use 'cheese cake' for incentive of his weight loss. He need to lose 30 pounds so he said if he can make it in 6 weeks he want to have a slice of Fruits cheese cake from cheese cake factory.

as what others believed: too much of everything is not good. I suggest you to discuss this with a dietician. There are several ways to lose weight but it depends in every person who wants to start it. Getting an advise from a dietician is important to you since you also have asthma. Losing weight is not about getting rid of foods, you just have to control and take a balance diet + an exercise.

Not really, last time I lost a lot of weight, just seeing how much I lost and how good I looked was my reward already. Problem was, once my body got used to losing weight and it slowed down a lot, I got demotivated and eventually gained a lot of pounds again. Not sure how I'll be able to handle that this time around, but we'll see.

I admire your dedication;it is obviously hard to lose weight especially if you have lots of other stuffs to think off a very bold act on your part indeed.Being health conscious at your age definitely is a rewarding drive as far as I can see because aside from playing a role from ones' family you are likewise promoting a state of well being mindful of ones' health. I can attest to you also I was overweight before what I did I religiously indulged myself to exercising doing it during duty offs and likewise modified my food intake gladly I was gradually losing weight.I was thinking then that it did benefit me and likewise I know also for you too.

I am so lazy to do work out but I decided to get motivated, you know what weird thing I do to get in track, I bought a expensive running shoes and expensive sweatpants that is branded. Every time I think of the price that it will just waste if I didn't use it much. Good-luck to both of us

Having incentives is a great thing! Rewarding yourself for reaching goals can really help you stick to whatever plan you're following.
Part of losing weight is also figuring out how to make it something you enjoy, so you can keep it up as a lifestyle - if you don't make lifestyle changes, then there's a big chance you'll just rebound and regain the weight you lost. When you start to enjoy whatever you're doing, then the weight loss is just a bonus!

Sure! It is good to have goals like this, but make sure that it stays a healthy goal. Don't go on a crash diet, do it right the first time and you won't have to do it again. More exercise, eat healthier and just be more active overall....be careful with your asthma though. Good luck!

That is a great incentive and I wish you the best of luck. I think that often times having something that you can look forward to is what works the best to keep you on track for losing weight and getting in shape. I do not have a lot of weight to lose, and am considered at a healthy bmi. But, I have two small children and would like to make sure that I stay in good shape before I have any more children because with each child is has become harder to lose the baby weight. I hope you reach your goal and the only tip I would have for you would be to get all of those around you involved and make sure they are willing to help you on your journey. Having the right support is so key!
