I finally have a surgery date

I saw a surgeon last month who would not do anything to help me. He basically turned me away saying my symptoms are not consistent with gallbladder disease and even if it is only functioning at 12%, it is still functioning. My husband and I were not happy with his actions. Under the advice of my family doctor, I sought the opinion of another surgeon. I am relieved to say that I have a surgery date finally. The 17th at 8 AM, I will be having an umbilical hernia repaired and my gallbladder removed. The doctor is going to try to do it via laparoscopy. I am still fighting daily nausea and have lost eleven pounds since last month so I will be glad when this is over with. I know that this doctor is a good one. I researched him to find out. He has been a surgeon for 34 years and is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars on several websites. It feels good knowing that I am finally getting somewhere with my health.

I'm glad you have found a doctor that will do the surgery as requested. I'm due to for some surgery more than likely myself, but have yet to get into the clinic to see the other doctor, May 9th is my appt there. It's not for gallbladder but for something else. I'm just worried abit as I've probably had this darn cyst for way too long. I hope and pray your surgery goes well. It isn't fun having lost 11 pounds and are nauseated on a daily basis. Never thought of checking a doctor's rating online, but thats an idea. Good luck with it and keep us all posted on how it goes.

Glad 2 hear you finally found a surgeon that is taking care of you and knows what he is doing. Best of luck with everything. I had my gallbladder out in september 2011 and they were able to do mine laproscopically and my recovery was 2 weeks. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

good for you standing up for your own health. that happened to me once. i was having really wonky periods and asked my doctor to send me to an obgyn and he wouldn't! i actually got mad at him and demanded that i be allowed to see one. well i did and within the next month, i was having a partial hysterectomy due to tons of fibroids. later, my doctor said to my hubby 'i didn't think it was that bad...' YOU know your own body!

I'm happy that you were able to find a surgeon that will take care of your needs. I've never had any gallbladder trouble, but have had horrible experiences with surgeons over my nonunion fracture in my right ankle, so I know how frustrating it will be. Stay strong and try to rest until your surgery day, it will be here before you know it! I hope you're surgery goes well and you can get back to living life, I know from experience how much pain can take away your life and take you away from the things you love. Best Wishes! ~Syra~
