My cat is about 3 years old, she is spayed, and she is a brat. She is the sweetest cat during the day. She's the type of cat that loves to be pet but on her own terms. She will even sleep with me sometimes at night, but that's rare. It's rare because most of the time at night, she is up on my counters, knocking stuff off, pushing the fish bowl across the counter, knocking stuff over in the sink, or digging in the dog food bowl for a piece of food to slide across the kitchen floor every where. She never does this during the day because she knows she will get in trouble. As soon as the lights go out, she is in the kitchen and I can hear her knocking stuff over or digging in the dog food bowl. I have to clean under my refridgerator and stove because it gets piled up with dog food. I don't know how to get her to stop. I've bought toys for her and either she get's bored with them or she pushes them under things in the kitchen and then can't get to them. Anyone have a cat like this or have any suggestions?

Hi,
First of all i Lovve cats, they are the sweetest things on this earth. Only one problem they are a lil more active at night :D. Their playful nature and their curosity is the best about them. Even i have a cat she is same as the age of yours. And she een she was a mess till few months back. She would run, make noises and keep playing with things all night. They cant help it beacause they being nocturnal + curious :). But now she has calmed down. She plays but not to the extent of making chaois. moreover she has also started sleeping at night. So dont you worry mate, your cat's gonna calm down either.. And love her as much as you can.. :)

Cats are nocturnal and that is probably why she is more active at night. I've not had one that lively at night but she is still young, maybe in a year or two she will calm down more. She wants to play, and is bored I'm sure. Possibly playing with her right before lights out might help. I have had cats that get bored with their toys too. Mine likes things like paper bags, long thick shoelaces, and even homemade catnip toys that I made for her out of a baby's new sock and stuffing it with catnip, tieing it tightly with a shoelace. Is there a way to shut the kitchen door after lights out? Or perhaps putting her in a room with some food, water and her litter box and the toys you gave her to play with, but with the door closed at night?

Mine is different. A quiet 1yr old female cat(just like me ;). Rarely say meow-meow. Only make meows if she's upset, don't want to play anymore, or in pain. She's very quiet. I don't have a problem anymore about her doing stuff like your cat coz she's not interested about that...anymore. Because, since of her first experience mating out, she is now more behave and sweet(she's not sweet before). The love changed her..hehe.
