Hi,
I have a cat who is 3 years old. and recently i have started feeding 2 stray dogs everyday. They are really adorable and they hang around my houose. But i feel scared for my cat if they do any harm to her. My cat is also very much afraid of those dogs. We have this cat since 3 years and she is a family member now. and those dogs are so adorable that i cant stop givng them food. What should i do which will make them bond or ifnot bond but atleast not harm my cat ! :(

You need to socialize them together, if the dogs doesn´t show any aggresive behaviour towards the cat, you can try feed them together, or, at least close, this may take time, but, they need to know each other, and understand, that you care for all of them, if the dogs are old already and use to chase cats, or fight them, it will be more dificult, but not imposible with love an patience.

If they both are grown ups and have the habit of chasing cats it will take you more time and effort. What you can do, for some time is to feed them near to some piece of cloth with the smell of your cat, maybe something where he used to sleep, teach them to associate your cat´s smell and presence to food and reward, then, introduce the cat to them, little by little, always in your presence.

hi albto..
Socializing them together is a bit of a job as they are grown upps now and i found out a few days back that the dogs were chasing my cat which really added to my worries. feedng them together is a good option which i will try to try out. :) i am really worried about keeping both of them as i dont want my cat to be harmed at any cost..Thanks a lot for your response, i wil try to feed them near by if that works in creating the bond, nothing like it :) :)

Hello richa_devale. :)
hmm, i have a grandmother, she has a house. she has three ats. and she is living in a village. there are lots of dogs. and they run to many houses veryone give them food. but they are not afraid of dogs. i think that dogs treat cats very well there. sometimes there are some cases when cats run from the dog but not often.
my advice is that you should keep your cat away from the dogs.

It will take some time for them to befriend each other but befriend they will. Do you see any signs of animosity? If not all is well.

Dogs can be scared of cats once it starts scratching the dogs. It is hard to make them get along since they are sworn enemies by instinct but i did see some on tv that are best friends. Why not pet them both at the same time or make them stand close to each other..

You are an ANGEL! Wish half of the world was like you and our furry friends would be okay !!
Dear I can only think in the solution of giving them time. My kids are all traumatized: 4 stray cats and 2 ex puppy mill moms (lived in cages their whole lives) so to encounter the cats was like a nightmare. Now they get along just a little better and it's been a year already. They don't bite and the cats don't attack them, they can like live together but not close friends you know what I mean? But everytime you put them together should not be forceful and you should watch closely.
