Let's be friends forever

Last month was my 21st birthday. I didn't like to celebrate too much so I decided to spend it with my friends and family a weekend prior to my natal day. We had an overnight stay at a certain hotel, we ate, went shopping, had night swimming in the pool and played the millionaire's game while drinking alcohol. It was really fun that we slept really late. The next day, I was surprised with cupcakes that had candles on it and a self-made birthday card that has an anime chibi version of us that wears a shirt "Let's be friends forever". It almost made me cry. I know the "let's be friends forever" is childish. I already erased that in my memory because I have realized during my later years that people come and go. They don't stay forever. Let's just say that I have a bad childhood memory about those promises. Anyway, I'm glad I met three great girls in college whom I didn't expect to become my closest friends now. Real friends can really make you feel special.
Do you still believe in promises like "let's be friends forever?" Do you think it's childish? naive or what?

"Lets be friend forever".. hmmph.. they want to tell you that, they will be for you if you need them, and they will help you. Its not a childish, its really not for me.. it just a words to say their "love" to you as their friend. Its not that naive, it is a future hope :D

They always say that no matter what we will always be there for each other no matter what. Future hope huh? Now that you mentioned it, I think it is a future hope that no matter what will happens or no matter what paths we will cross, we will still have each other. Lol. I am being mushy. Thanks anyway!

Thank you babyEj. I am lucky to have friends like them. I was like you before. I don't like to build strong attachments because I know that life goes and we have to move on even without them.
