The Arsenal way

Of late there have been a few ambitious comments from the blokes at Arsenal claiming the next season is theirs. While it is no secret that Arsenal's style of playing is a joy to watch, the question to bear in mind is do they have the sustainability or the finishing prowess? Wenger did bring in Podolski and he is indeed a welcome addition but one wonders if this is a result of backroom discussions with RVP where he may have expressed a desire to move out. After all he's touching 29 and will want to make all the money that he possibly can in the coming years. It doesn't help that City have been eyeing him for a while now.

If they can keep RVP, add a midfielder and defender, like M'Vila and Vertoghen, then they will be in good shape to finally challenge for the title. But if RVP leaves, then Poldolski addition will mean little unless they can find another top top striker who will guarantee at least 20 goals next season.

Agreed. And Djourou should not even be on the bench!! He drives me nuts; Gibbs I think is coming of age and if he can stay fit, the defence will start looking better. There's still a lot of work to do as far as defending set pieces is concerned and if the Gunners are to have a title shot, they need to address this issue.

I think two things would be key to Arsenal's success next year. First of all whether they are able to retain RVP. For the past 3-4 years each year Arsenal has sold their best players of the year in the summer transfer window. The second thing would be whether they can play the whole year with the spirit and fighting mentality with which they have played post Christmas this year. If they can do that then they would be competing for top honors and probably there might be a title at long last.
Cheers!
