one reason is that is it is not that easy to learn driving. the road here is not safe. and i hate maintaining an automobile. it must be expensive and hard work to maintain an automobile so that it would be in good condition. i don't want the extra responsibilities at home. and i feel that if i should learn to drive , i should have learn it long before and practiced long before. but my family just keep changing their minds if they want me to learn so i can drive for the family. i agreed before but they changed their mind. they wanted me to learn just so we don't have to hire a family driver. so i would be the family drive so as to save money. anyway, i don't want other people to hire as i don't like hiring people because some people have some personality that i would not like.

I do not want to learn to drive because I am terrified of it! I see all of the crazy drivers and it turns my stomach even thinking about it. My husband wants me to because he said it would make things easier on him so he wouldnt always have to be the one to go to the store and everything. I have a huge fear of driving and I am not sure I could do it. I never learned when all my friends did in school, my parents wouldnt allow me to learn. I do not think that helped me at all. Maybe if I had someone professional to teach me and be patient with me I could learn but right now we cannot afford to do that. So, I will probably never get over this fear...

I am interested in learning to drive but now i had this trauma because one time my cousin taught me to drive it was hard at first because it's manual. But as we keep practicing i kinda know it a little. Then my mom and brother insisted to watched me driving, they were sitting at the backseat. As i'm driving, there's this big truck along the way, i was terrified instead of hitting the break, i passed through it and i made it. Then my mom and brother was shouting at me like "your stupid, we have been hit, what's wrong with you. Then we got home, i asked my cousin could you drive to get the care in the garage. I went inside right away in our bathroom. I didn't continue because after what they did, my hands and feet was shaking and my tears fell on my eyes and i don't want to see them. After what happen, i never drive our car even my parents insisted because of what they done to me. Instead of encouraging me, they making me down. Until now i'm still afraid.

Currently I don't have the desire to learn driving too. The road is small and always crowd during day and night time. To maintain a car, it takes much money for every month also. However, if i move to another country for living, i may think back of learning to drive...

There are pros and cons of learning how to drive. You should list those advantages and disadvantages for you and try to weigh in on them so that you can have a clear view if you really need to learn how to drive. For me, I think anything that you do the fist time can be hard as you really don't have experience of doing so. But in the long run, they can be easy. Same applies to driving. I had a hard time learning it at first, but once I got comfortable, everything is easy already. Just try it out. Also, the benefits for me learning how to drive overwhelms the disadvantages. One advantage is having an additional valid identification card with the license, being able to go out late at night without worries, a cool impression of being a driver and also driving is a sure advantage during emergency situations like when you need to pull out someone to the hospital or you need to race for something. Knowing how to drive comes in handy during such times.

I used to not want to learn to drive before because I really do not like having extra responsibilities. But eventually my father talked me into learning it and then I realized how important it is for me to know how to drive especially that hiring a trust-worthy driver is hard to come by these days. Also, I can use the skill at the kind of work I have so I guess it's worth it.

I completely agree with you. Learning to drive is a big hassle, not to mention an added responsibility. Also, consider the state of traffic in most of the countries. Driving isn't as fun as it's made out to be by everyone nowadays. Its tiring, and hard work. Personally, I would rather be driven around than drive by myself. :)

I think there is no harm to learn to drive because at some point in the future, such skill would be useful.

I think it is god to at least learn the basic since it might come in handy later.. Learning new stuff is always good especially if it is learning useful stuff.. You don't need to own a car- you can just borrow from some friends, just practice.

I don't have the desire to learn to drive, either. For one thing, i think , it is so complicated on the road. Not all of the drivers are careful or even they drink and drive.I am afraid of them. in my opinion, people depend on each other on the road, If someone is careless, accident will happen. For another i think i can't drive. driving needs concentration all the time on the road, which is a tiring thing for me.

That's okay, not every person in the world drives. I don;t drive and I'm 29 years old. I live in Ontario Canada, and I choose not to because its too expensive, I'm too poor, and I could never afford a car on my wages. I also am a very nervous driver, I'm nervous in intersections and with trucks.

We share the same sentiment. I also never had the interest to learn to drive, and to drive. My husband has been bugging me to get myself up to speed with this skill because he said I would really need it. At that time, we were both working, and on the same shift, so we take the same ride, and he does the driving. But, sometimes, when he has to fly out of town for work, nobody can use the car, and I have to take a cab to work. Now, I'm no longer working and his flights are getting more frequent. I now feel the need to really get my hands on the wheels. I can't just rely on him to drive me to where I needed to go. So, probably after I give birth, I'll be searching for a good driving coach.

Now, I don't even know either, if I wanted to learn it. But I guess I have to, as I wanna independent in every single way, and I may have to... But now, I'm totally okay with the public transport in my city (I live in the capital here, which means I go anywhere by train, bus, tram or underground or to the airport with any of these) and it's quite expensive to get a licence (the driving lessons and the exams...).
