I was wondering if any of you use coupons to save on food I heard of people using a bunch of coupons and getting there months worth of food free or for only a few bucks I have watched a show called extreme couponing one time but I don't get how they have the time to get all of the coupons.
So my question is do you use coupons?

I use coupons all the time! Every coupon is worth at least $1 at my favorite grocery store. I wait to buy things until I see a really good price on them, and then I stock up.
This weekend I'm going to be shopping with a bunch of coupons that are expiring soon. I have 13 $0.55/1 coupons for Celestial Seasonings tea and 9 $1/1 coupons for Lawry's marinades. The tea is on sale this week for $2. After the store matches my coupon I'll be spending only $1 on each box. The marinades will be $0.99 after the coupon savings. I probably won't have to buy tea again for at least six months, and the marinades will probably last through the summer.
I don't get how the extreme couponers do it. I really don't. I thought I did really well this week with a couple of $1 off coupons that let me get free Glade air freshening sprays and a CVS coupon and ExtraBucks Reward deal that let me make money on the purchase of three greeting cards!

Yeah, I guess there's some real controversy over the Extreme Couponing show. Just a few days ago I saw an article somewhere that pointed out how a person who appeared on the show had been using coupons fraudulently. She was using coupons for items that she didn't purchase in the transaction.
I've gotten some ridiculous deals lately. There was a $2 off 1 printable coupon for GE CFL light bulbs available this week, so I ended up with a bunch of 3-packs for only $0.43 each. Barilla had a $1 off coupon on their website. I printed it off and ended up with free pasta because Fry's has it on sale this week for $1 a box. Last week I got two free boxes of Kotex tampons thanks to a coupon and Walgreens Register Reward combo. The week before that, it was free citronella votive candles at Walmart with a manufacturer coupon. There's tons of deals around once you start really looking for them.
Tomorrow, I'm going to go to Walmart and use the $2 off 2 Kotex liner coupons that I printed last night. One of the deal bloggers I follow says that they should be priced at $0.94 a pack, so they should be free with enough overage to cover the tax. I've never tried the liners, but I'll stock up anyway. If I don't like them, I'll just donate all of them to the local women's shelter.
I don't think any of the local stores do a double coupon day. The two grocery stores closet to my apartment have promotions going on where all coupons are worth at least $1, so I try to shop there more often than the other store in town. If they did a double coupon day, I'd probably stockpile some of the high value coupons I find and use them then.

My dear, you forgot to understand that there are foreigners also on mylot. I am from Nigeria, we do not have anything like coupons in Nigeria. We use only physical cash to buy any food we want. We use cash as a medium of collecting money from our debtors.

At my nearest supermarket they have match the price. If the price would have been cheaper at a competitors supermarket they give a coupon and they also give coupons saying spend 30 pounds and get 100 extra points on your reward card. They spy on what you are buying and then sometimes give coupons like 50 pence off your next purchase of own brand products for example.
I went to see the health visitor to get my daughter weighed when she was a baby. In the entrance they had coupons on a leaflet for the soya drink my family drinks. I got 20 of them and saved 30 pence on each of those drinks. Wow.
At a supermarket they let you enter your receipt details on-line. They give a coupon which the customer must print out. Then I use the coupon the next time I go shopping there. At the moment I have a coupon for one pound and forty five pence to use at that supermarket.

stacilyn8812 ..I always feel I should be using coupons more than I do...After all manufacturers raise their prices and issue coupons so just to take advantage of what is available, I think I should use more coupons. It is time consuming but I keep telling myself I could find time to research coupons..now all I have to do is listen to my own advicerofl[/em]

In my country, couponing is not like the practice in the USA, for example. We do get coupons every now and then, but for more expensive shops (which I wouldn't shop myself, such as Marks&Spencer, Esprit and Levi's), and only percent coupons which you can't use for discount products. But it's never getting free stuff or having great deals off of stuff we would use every day. So they are like stuff that aren't worth buying for me because still I'd pay a lot for stuff I didn't even need.

Yes, I use coupons and have for a very long time even when my income was much higher. However, I am not an extreme couponer. I just look for ones for things that I like or would get anyway. I use them in combination with sales for treats like ice cream and only get it under those circumstances in an effort to keep from eating too much of it.

hello stacilyn8812, yes i do use coupons since i'm a little bit frugal.. for me it's an opportunity to save money.. usually i got coupons from fastfood chains and it really make me pay less than the original price of a certain food.. it's fun doing it since i use to redeem coupons with my friends who has their own too and we all enjoy the foods in the same table.. sometimes, i use gift certificates too but coupons can be easily acquired than that of gift certificates :))

I love using coupons! If you are trying to get a lot of food for free then yes, it will take a long time to first look for and collect and the coupons and then match them up with the deals at your grocery store. Luckily there are lots of web sites that will tell you when there is something out there you can get for free. Those are the items you should stock up on so you don't have to buy them again til they are on sale. A lot of people on extreme couponing won't buy anything without a coupon. If you have the time to cut coupons and match deals that is a great rule to live by. If not, be like me and just collect coupons for the items you know you buy regularly and that way you save at least some money each shopping trip. There are some thing you should NEVER have to pay full price for (makeup, tampons, toothpaste, laundry detergent, diapers, yogurt).
