The other day, we had power failure,so we couldn't surf the Internet. All the colleagues in our office felt bored. Usually, some colleagues who live far away from home choose to stay at the office at noon without bothering to come back again to work which take them a lot of time and as a result they have little time for a rest. And often they surf the net, shopping or reading or just watch some video programmes over lunch. But now the electricity was off, It's likely that people could do nothing without the net. so everyone went home.In the past, we had no net and we lived happily, but now people feel as if they lost something if there were no net. What about you, mylottrs?

Internet is like the favorite time pass for most of us these days. And when we can't access it,we do feel bored. But you can't say that you can't live without the internet. It is not a basic necessecity.

Yeah.Nothing is necessary except water, air or food.As technology advances, people should learn to adapt themselves to new technologies and learn to make a choice among them. Technology can make people's life easy. people can't be made slaves of technologies. If so we prefer not to have so-called technologies.

Yeah. People are good at getting used to everything. At the beginning , when pc was a new thing, many people didn't think of it a difficult problem.Even many others repelled it. But now ,nearly all people learn about it . If someone says he can't use the Pc , people will think of him as a person of another planet.

I am geared up for that. There could be several reasons why one may not be able to access the internet. I line up alternatives for me and am mentally prepared for such an eventuality. Ofcourse I would take a deep breath as it will not be easy to switch over to something else that would not be as interesting and as observing as the Internet!

I definitely can but I think I wills hare the sentiment of other mylotters here that it will be a boring and useless day for me because my time now revolves around the internet. True, we shouldn't be so dependent on such service but it has practically changed our lifestyle and how we do things. In some days, I cannot imagine what i would be doing if I doesn't have an internet connection. Of course, there will be other things but having no connection would be like mental torture and you just need to have your fill of Internet before feeling satisfied.
I haven't met an a person obsessed with the Internet but I am sure they are already cases. I cannot blame them but there is a life offline. They are people and activities outside the Bright screen of the computer. It's up to the person whether they can appreciate the tool and not being enslaved to the tool instead.

People should take the line properly.Everything is invented to make people's life easy. If people become addicted to something or even slaves of it, it is not so good i think. Persons should be masters to things. And people should use them to serve themselves well.

I think the answer does be right. yeah. The line is only part of our life. We use it to do our work, to look for useful information,to learn about new technologies, to make new friends , to play online games and to do many other nice things. But remember it is only part not all.Have a nice day.

True, internet has become a major part of our lives nowadays. We feel disconnected from the world if we fail to log on to our respective social-networking websites for one day. It's probably because our interaction is becoming solely based over these websites today (which is not exactly a good thing), and so we fell lost and out of touch, and even lonely, if we don't spend (or, in some cases, waste) a considerable portion of each day over the internet on these websites. Apart from socializing, we also shop, bank, earn, and do what-not on the web, so I think it's hardly surprising that internet beats in our very systems. :p

In fact, the Internet is a double-edged sword. On the one hand people get useful imformation on the net,and it is so convenient that when people want to look for something , the first for them to think of is the Internet. On the other hand, people are so addicted to the net that they stick to it even if they have nothing important to do . What's worse, they are addicted to games, which waste their so much time.

My life still go on even if the internet is not working because of a power failure. There are a lot of other more desirable chores and works to do instead of wasting the time of interneting.Surfing the net is just like playing some people earn money from internet member companies. Some are just playing some online videos and games.
Some are using the webcam and chat to their friends and relatives

Hello Archaiwy. There are a lot of tech and other conveniences that we have today that we could do with out if we had to as our ancestors did. Take the automatic washing machine. Before it was invented we had fewer clothes and when it came to changing the sheets on the bed the fresher top sheet was moved to take the place of the bottom sheet then the bottom sheet was washed. The vacuum cleaner was invented and more work was added to the ladies list of chores to be done. Now we are very dependent on these conveniences as well as computers, cell phones and ipads and kindles or some other device. We depend on facebook or myspace rather than going to see our friends or family. We depend on the internet for our information and news rather than reading a news paper or going to the library. All these things are still available to us but we have forgotten how to use them or we have gotten lazy because it would take a lot of effort to get with friends and family or to go to the library. I believe computer and internet have become a necessary evil. Don't get me wrong because if my electricity was to go off for very long I would become restless and anxious to get on the computer too.

Yes, I guess I could live without it, but I would sure miss it! I am glad that the electricity is quite stable where I live now, as there are no interruptions basically! That was not the same where I used to live before, when we would have power blackouts for hours at a time! I think that was probably what made me move out of that place!

of course it will be better for us if there is internet. but in my country I think only 5% to 10% use internet as their way / medium to work or connect to others, so to me we can still live without internet even if some of our peoples is very busy businessman. I think it will difficult for some foreigners without internet but still they can use HP /mobile phone.but I don't know if there is already "internet addicted" peoples and I don't know too what it is looked like, sorry I only feel a little bit funny if there is internet addicted peoples, I think it is because internet is new to hem (like someone falling in love so that he /she can not forget his / her new lover although for a minute ... hahaha...) it's okay ... nothing wrong with them. thank, I just wanted to write after several weeks absent from mylot. sie sie.

Years ago I didn't like computers and wondered if I would ever use the Internet. I liked books and magazines plus walking and cycling in those days. In my university days I kept away from computers and the Internet. It was only in my first year of teaching that I got a half price for teachers computer and got into using the Internet.
Now I must have the Internet at home. Yes, this is essential. Here we don't often get a power cut. Where I lived from 1991 until 2005 we often got power cuts and broadband didn't arrive there until 2005. When I moved into my bungalow it took three weeks to get my Internet working. I ended up getting a mobile broadband stick for my laptop. When I travel I always seem to have a problem with my net book.

At the beginning i knew nothing about the computer and would not like to learn it. But as it became more and more popular, i found if i didn't learn it i would fall behind. So I learned it .I started with drawing a picture. Gradually i got interested in it and now everyday i come to my office the first to do is to turn the computer on. I am relying on it.

Hi Archaiwy,
You're absolutely spot on. Nowadays very very few people can live without the internet. It has become such an important part of our lives that sometimes we don't realize it until it stops working. Then everything seems so lost. It's as though a part of our lives has gone along with it. As for me, I must turn on my computer and hooked onto the internet every single day whether it's for work, play or whatever.

Well, if you had asked this question ten years ago, probably my answer would be YES. Today, however, without a doubt, I tell you openly NO. I just can not do without the internet, are perhaps too involved in the mechanism of the global network. Just know that 90% of the time I spent in front of the PC, is dedicated precisely to the internet. In fact, it is no coincidence that at this time, not at my house, I'm sending this comment via mobile device!

Definitely but the hard part is once you had known the power of Internet and how you can do a lot of things in the Internet, why would you want to go back to the thing of the past? It would be such a waste & a powerful slap to the people who had dedicated their lives in improving our lives.

We can live without the Internet, but most likely we will miss it if we have to.
Thats the power of habit. Before we didnt have the cellphones and internet and we lived happy life, but today we cant imagine the life without those things.
Anyway i believe that people have been much happier than today when we have all those "cool" things. Before all those new things life was much simpler and i remember i used to spend much time reading books and meeting my friends.
Today i feel like i dont have time to do those things and almost all my free time i usually spend in front of PC screen.

Our daily life is somehow connected to internet in too many ways. But if live before with no internet then I guess we could live today without it but would be really hard and frustrating though lol.Sometimes it is hard to live or take away things that we are already used to but if we try and do our best it could be.I guess A day or week without internet would be tolerable but more than that would be hard.
We can convert into other things when there is no internet around like reading which I do, watching movies that I love to do or even doing and playing simple things that we used to do before.

Yeah, it's gonna be boring without Internet, but I've survived majority of my life without it anyway so sooner or later, I'll be fine without it and learnt to adapt an environment without the influence of the internet. I'm just glad I have other hobbies that occupies me when the electricity has been cut off for no apparent reasons or the flipping company of our internet connection has some sort of issues. I can just sit and read a good book for hours and try other stuffs too.
