Are you sometimes afraid to see a doctor?

Have you ever felt this way? Afraid to see a doctor for a simple reason that you don't want to know your sick 'cause the moment you know it, for sure it will going to bother your mind and makes you feel lonely? I know some people like this. But how can they be cured if they refuse to see a doctor? We all know that there is always a big chance of treatment if a sick is discovered at an early stage right? What is your view here? What would you do if you are in the same situation?

I think that actually, one of the most common things that keeps us from the doctor´s office is precisely the fear of having said that we have a serious condition, for some reason, we all always think in the worst of posibilities when feels that something is not OK with his/hers health. I can´t say, that I go to the doctor too often, but, when I do, there is that fear, that I think is kind of natural, that he has really bad news for us.

I am not afraid to see my doctor because we have a good understanding and the fact that he is a gp and non threatening. Specilists tend not to see everything and only fix one problem but the body is complex while a gp looks for your best interest. This being said, there are far too many cures to be had, to be searched for, to always turn to a doctor. It is a matter of knowing perhaps when to go often when you are not sure and need advice.

That is good thing about you. You go to the doctor whenever you feel there is a need for it. But some people search on the available information on the net before seeing a doctor.

it seems you haven't experienced any serious health problems at your age. simple sick like headaches need not bother us to see a doctor.

maybe you are still healthy at your age but as you age you will start to feel worried about your health conditions. Being healthy today doesn't mean being healthy for your entire life. There are many people who are healthy but still had a serious illness all of a sudden. A sick is like a stabber, it will hit you the moment you never expect it.

Many people are afraid to go to doctor. I think it sometimes starts at a very young age when we get the painful vaccines. Although I want to know what illness I have, I'm sometimes afraid to go to doctor. I often got treated as if I wasn't normal - if my condition wasn't serious: why did I come? If I waited until it got worse: why didn't I go earlier? If somebody thinks that he might have something serious, he might be afraid of getting in hospital, too. Once he is in hospital, he has no much control over what is going to happen.

well is a sick is not that serious or something like a teeth problem, vaccines there is nothing to be afraid of. but as we age, our worries become larger than those things. Our tendency to acquire more serious sickness are most likely to occur at old age. Seeing a doctor is one way to prevent or remedy a worst health conditions that we have rather than regret in the end why we didn't make it more earlier.

I would want to know what illness I have and what I can do to get cured. Everytime I feel symptoms other than for fever and cold, I would want to see a doctor, right away. However, my mother and husband always hesitate to see a doctor, because of that reason. They don't want to be told they're sick. I would always insist that they go and see one, but they just won't take my word for it.

oh yes some people are doing this just to avoid the worry feeling it might create to their love ones. they want to think they are healthy even though they are not. but they should still see a doctor if the illness is something so serious. it is also an indication of love to their love ones if they care for their health.

not so. If ever, I will mention again my suggestion to see a doctor. the pain could also convince them to finally have a check up. but so sad that many people will wait for the severe pains before taking an action.

And, I really hate it when they keep on complaining about any discomfort or pain their feeling and they won't take my advice to see a doctor. As if, their moaning can heal whatever illness they may have. Don't you find that annoying, too?

Well I'm not afraid of my family's doctor since we went there since I was a kid so he knows my medical history, but once, 3-4 years ago when I was off-town, I had a respiratory infection and I had to go to a hospital and the doctor there gave me a wrong prescription so I think I am afraid of that specific doctor :P hahah

when it comes to serious illness, it is best to always have a second doctor's opinion. there are many cases wherein doctors also commit mistakes and if we don't take extra precaution and believe right away what the doctor told us, it could be a very risky thing for us.

if you feel that way, it means you are brave and ready to take what life will bring to you. I think everyone should do that way.
