Dance With my Father

I only found out about this song, when I was searching for songs that I would include in my wedding soundtrack. The moment I saw the title on the list of downloadable mp3's, I knew it would be very moving. And, it indeed brought me to tears as I played it and sang along.
My father left us for another woman before I graduated from college, and I never talked to him after that happened. We were all very hurt, and I never thought I could still forgive my father. When I got in to a serious relationship and got engaged, I made a vow to myself, that I would not marry until I get to forgive my father and reconcile with him. My fiance (now, my husband), respected my plans, and helped me through it.
So, during our wedding, I was very happy that my father graced the event, and we danced to the song, "Dance with my Father."

that is a very meaningful song and that is very great time and experience you had that you are able to reconcile with your father and that he was able to join your wedding event and that you can dance with him to this beautiful song with a very touching and wonderful message about a father.

Well, we can only have one father, and one man whom we can dance that song with. So, I'm glad I had mine.

Wow! What a scene indeed. I am happy that you have reconciled at last. Pains that were kept inside didn't do nothing but destroy you. Good luck for your new life with your husband.

That's true. Human as we are, however, it may not be easy to face the pain we're in, but time heals.

It's a good thing that you've reconciled with your father. I used to cry every time I hear that song. And now especially, I feel teary eyed when I hear it. I'm a daddy's girl and we just lost him last March in an accident. The last part of the last part is so true..."I'd pray for her even more than me..." I cry every time I think of how much my mom misses him.

I think every daughter, who lost their father, in one way or another, can relate to that song. However, I'm sure our mothers would miss them more, especially if they had a wonderful relatioship before either one left.

You have made a right decision. Forgiving your father would free you from all the negative aspects of life. It's just like you have freed yourself from a heavy burden. Best wishes!

That's true, and I really felt so happy to have both my parents on my sides as I walk the aisle. Well, they weren't in good terms yet, but they did their best to give me a good wedding.

I also love the song. And may I say that I love the story you just shared? It's a good thing that you are able to forgive your father. I guess by forgiving your father, it is actually your self that you have set free from the immense heart ache. I am happy for you. Very touching story, thank you for sharing this.

Thanks. I did feel so much at ease that time. And, although, things didn't go back to how it was before their separation with my mother, but, I'm contented that we can now talk when we want to and see each other during family gatherings. I know its not easy for my mother, until now, to see him around, but she loves us so much, that she won't get in the way for our desire to be with him, sometimes.

I used to hate my father too back in my younger years because he's always mad at me back then. I thought it's because he was forced to marry my mother because of me and live with us in the province. Which is far from city where he used to lived. But I regret it afterwards. Just like my other siblings, he loves me too. He did those things so I can stand on my own because I'm the eldest. I have to protect myself and my siblings from the people who will bring me down in the future.

Some fathers just have a different way of showing their love for us. I'm glad you realized that, before everything was too late.
Are you able to relate to this song, too?
