Chelsea lifted their first Cup title of the year beating Liverpool 2-1 at the Wembley. The first 60 minutes of the match was more or less dominated by Chelsea as Liverpool were really lackluster. Ramirez put Chelsea ahead early in the first half. Then the Wembley specialist Didier Drogba scored the second Chelsea goal early in the second half.
The entry of Andy Carrol as substitute immediately lifted Liverpool and they then hammered the Chelsea goal for the last 30 minutes. Carrol scored one goal, and had another cleared off the line by Cech. Chelsea stopped playing anything for the last 30 minutes and just concentrated on defending like they did against Barcelona. In the end that was enough and they emerged 2-1 winners.
Cheers!

I am hoping my Blues might have messed up with the league but they have the FA Cup and hope they can seize the flow and lift the ultimate European Cup soon for the 1st time ever. Liverpool played well and were unlucky but Chelsea knew what they had to do and stuck to the game plan well enough to emerge victorious.

A nice little warmup for the uefa champions league final against bayern munich! It's gonna be a much harder game obviously, as the germans wouldn't want to lose the title, especially now that the final takes place in their home. Even though I am not a chelsea fan, I will be supporting the english team in the final, as they impressed me big time vs barcelona!

I think once Chelsea took the lead, it was clear that they can defend this lead. Especially given their antics in stopping Barcelona, they were always going to be tough to beat. Liverpool did fight in the last 30 minutes, but that was simply not good enough.

I was looking for both Fernando Torres and Andy Carroll playing. I was so excited when Andy Carroll came on and he immediately made an impact into the game as Liverpool kept playing the ball to him.
I would say the Chelsea was lucky in the last half an hour of the game as Liverpool went on the offensive and Chelsea's defence looked really panicky and vulnerable at times. Dirk Kuyt who also came on as a substitute also made an impact with his hardworking efforts.
Liverpool did not deserve to lose. Chelsea was lucky to escape with a victory and won the FA Cup as a result.

Actually to tell the truth, I thought this was the best I have seen Andy Carroll play. He was winning the ball in the air and was bringing others into play. And he had a goal to boot. If nothing else, if this marks the coming of age game of Carroll, then Liverpool would be quite happy with it.
Cheers!
