Beauty will pass by and all of us will grow old. The important thing is how we value and respect ourselves and how we treat others with respect in return because at the end, what we did will remain in the hearts of our children and love ones. Our kindness will reflect how beautiful we are inside.

I find it interesting that you say "beauty will pass by and all of us will grow old". That implies that you think old people are not beautiful. I know many, many people who are "old" but are very beautiful. Some might consider me to be "old" but I am still beautiful. I work in a nursing home and there are many beautiful residents there that I care for. Unfortunately, not all of us will grow old. That is a privilege not afforded to everyone. Beauty comes from within. It is also in the eye of the beholder.

True meaning of beauty is as they say.."in the eyes of the beholder" so what your eyes percieve is the beauty that your heart beholds.Your eyes and heart together will look upon a thing and if ugly to some and beautiful to others means nothing compared to what you see.

I believe that beauty is truly on the inside, that is what makes a person beautiful. What does a person gain from having physical beauty when if they are horrible people. I think physical beauty is so over rated, when ultimately what truly counts is whats on the inside.

Thanks for participating lida! We shouldn't care about what a person looks like because it's only the outside. If someone is really good looking and is a total jerk, do you think that you'd like that person No way! If a person were ugly but super nice, would you like to hang out with that person? Probably, yes. Beauty is just the outside, and the inside is what counts!

beauty is an abstract thing. what determines it is the beholder's eye. to me, beauty is a some total of everything about you that is good, inside and out. on second thought, it seems like the media determines beauty now a days.

Very true moongypsy! The standards of beauty the media sets are not obtainable for the average woman. Without a personal trainer, chef, stylist, and often plastic surgeon it is impossible to meet the media's beauty standards. The average woman does not have the time or the money to make themselves over the way the media encourages.

That's absolutely right. Beauty is not about the physical appearance. It's more about our character. Even if a person is not beautiful physically, once you start spending time with her and start liking her character you'll find her very beautiful.. You might even think she's the most beautiful woman in the world... the best example is our MOM!
On the other hand, you fall for a person's appearance and later you find out that her character is not good, then you'll regret it.
Inner beauty is what that matters!!

Thanks for this wonderful response. I think the meaning of beauty is to be likable and thereby get a better position socially. It's a way of ruffling you feathers and showing your best side to a potential partner or ally.
