Hi guys! When we graduate from college we will surely plan to have a nice job with a salary that is enough or even higher than what we need. Here in the Philippines most jobs do not have that salary that can make you contented especially if you have family , that is why most Filipinos would prefer to work abroad because even a blue collar job is considered highly paid there. Here, top positions are the ones who are highly paid. For example a nurse here would earn from 5,000 to 12,000 whereas in US a nurse could earn 100,000 pesos a month. This is the ugly truth. Well, I plan to work abroad one day, just work for a couple of years but I still prefer to live here and grow old here. What about you?

This is the same case with people working in India and other asian countries. Many people prefer going to US, work there for a year to two, earn money and come back to homeland. But the bitter truth is that 95% of people going to US never return and once they start earning, they never want that momentum to go out of their hands and I personally have never seen any of my friends or relatives who have been to US for earning returning back to India. So I personally prefer to settle in my homeland immaterial I earn here. Though my earning is not that good or handsome, but it's sufficient enough to take care of myself and my family and that is the one I prefer..

I guess that's true. But, there are always consequences. And it depends on the person working abroad if he or she is married or not. But definitely, my friend, going abroad while single has the least problems :)

ohh my god, i never knew that nurses could earn 100,000 pesos abroad.. i'm from the Philippines too and I agree with you.. the government officials are full of promises that never happened at all.. sending employees abroad is one of their food since they earn in every remittance that every OFW (overseas filipino worker) do.. honest politician in our country is very rare not even our President.. Even me, I will have my job abroad too.. not to sustain the needs of the government but for the sake of my future and my loved ones as well..

correct.. i believe there's still hope for the development of our country but it must start on the ones who are governing us.. they are even collecting high taxes but i can't see great improvement.. our national road are not even and not repaired at all.. so shameful to the tourists

hi! Of course they could, jobs abroad are paid per hour unlike here its per day.The government benefits a lot from OFWs too bad corruption is very rampant thats why results are not that clear with regards to their projects. We can do a lot for a family even sacrifice for them.:)

I am from the U.S., and my whole family is here, so I would probably have to take a job here. I don't know if I could take a job anywhere else, and if I did it would have to be a country that is close to my country so Mexico or Canada.

If there's no good opportunity in my country then I pursue to work abroad. In my point of view no matter where I'm going to work the most important is if I'm happy enough with my earning and my environment.
But of course its not my plan to stay for good in other country.I will still be going back to my homeland unless the situations don't allow me to do so.. in some case maybe..
Happy mylotting!

I love working for my country. The dollars are tempting but working abroad can have consequences too. And not all who works abroad tend to be successful. Fortunately, we can still hope for the best :)

To tell you the truth, I am always tempted to work abroad. But, its not that easy. For a married woman right me, I'll have to think of my kids and my husband. My husband says its OK that we get separated for awhile but thinking that life is just short, I want to spend more time with my family. I don't blame people if they choose to work abroad because I understand it as a need. I would too if I were single. But, right now, I feel I am more needed here. So I guess, I'll try to work on my three jobs like you suggested :)

Hi! I believe nothing is more inspiring than serving your own countrymen but we cannot blame others if a need arises to work abroad especially for those who are supporting a big family. For those who do not have opportunity to work abroad, lets just work harder while we are still living.

I feel the same! I would prefer working in my country and live here, but if I had an opportunity to work abroad for a better salary I would definitely go for a few years. The level of experience offered is also higher abroad, because there are bigger projects and you can work on cases that you could never find in my country! But eventually I would like to come back to my favourite home country!

I know that not all people in the Philippines are bad, there are also good people in the Philippines, but to think that all the issues that are being said to this country, it's kind a hard to think that Philippines is a PERFECT place to live in. For me, I would prefer to work on other country and might as well live there. It's just my own perception. I've experienced a hold-up here and I got shot in my left thigh. then when you listen to the news, all you can here is bad things that is happening here in the Philippines. I just wish all of the Filipino could think of a change specially the politicians, because they are supposed to be the leader, and not the stupid money thief people.

Id prefer working online than going abroad coz I just love my country and the people. even though I'm curious to know about other culture and its tradition and be able to see the difference every country and its tourists spots. But i'd chose to be home. If there's no option I'd go another country to find work. But as long there is any job on my country I would stay.

For me, i will prefer to stay here in my country because I get easily homesick. Yes, your absolutely right about the income you can get here in the Philippines. You can earn less and some other can't even earn because their income is exact on their daily living. So my opinion here is, if i didn't receive any good offer in a foreing country I'll stay here but if an opportunity came I will love to grab it.

All of us have different opinions about this matter. It's a matter of choice whether you prefer working abroad or staying in your country for good and it always depends on you. No matter what it is, if that what makes you happy and would benefit you more then go for it.
For me, if given the opportunity to work abroad I would grab it right away. It may seem hard at the beginning because you'll get homesick plus the pressure you'll get from your job because you have to adapt to the environment you'll be working and be familiarize with it but the most important thing to remember is you should know how to adjust with the people around you and be respectful at all times because you're in a foreign land. All those hardships can be overcome just for the sake of having high salary that you can give to your family and loved ones.
Even though I want to work abroad, I won't stay there long because I still believe that "there's no place like home" I still would like to settle in my own country with happy and warm people. Having my own business would be a good idea to help my family and help other people who's looking for a job.

Hi! I agree, people have different opinion it will also depend on their needs and experience in life.I believe that working abroad is an opportunity to learn how to be independent and how to get along with different culture. Most people would prefer to work their to be able to provide more for their family.

I have never really thought about working abroad myself. I think being far away from your family will actually just add up to the stress and it might affect my work results and productivity. I think some people are out of options or it is what they like to do... but its not for me. =)

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, they say. However, I'd rather work in my own country. I'd not feel that secured working abroad.

I must say that I have always been very much attached to my own land but working abroad can be next to imposible and I think it takes a lot of guts to be able to do it. Not only are you away from your family and from your friends, but you are also away from your own culture. I live near my family and friends and that amounts to a lto of money for me.

There is a wiseword in my country,
"Even there are gold rain in abroad but still better in our country, even just a stone rain".
Its all depend on us, how much we get if we think its enough then it will enough.
Why we have to go to abroad in order to chase a dollar or whatever kind of money it is.
While we could get it from our own home.

There are rampant Filipinos taking up nursing because they want to work outside the country. The compensation in other 1st world countries is completely good unlike in our country. It's a sad reality that the compensation in our country isn't enough for our basic needs. I'll probably work here temporarily for the mean time but I'll definitely work outside country.
