Today I was reading an article abou the history of e-mails. It was very interested to learn that the first e-mail in the world was sent in 1971 by a computer engineer in Cambridge. Today we use e-mails in our everyday life and we can communicate for free with anyone in the world! It is amazing how technology has evolved in the past 30 years!

yeah, but there are still people who do not use it in a right way.. e-mail was invented to conserve trees.. if messages sent to my e-mail are real mail, no trees can't be found on earth anymore.. :))

that's the reason too why Credit and Debit Cards exist.. we are now paying via electronic method without handing bundles of paper (money).. and it don't bother your purse or wallet anymore but you might lose everything once you lost it :))

I miss snail mail. Nothing more fun that going to that mail box and finding a letter for you and the excitment of who it's from, what they have to say etc. I write to my grand daughter and she says she likes the letters, but doestn' write back. She says 'we text now, nanny". I just pulled some of my "love letters" from boyfriends I had back in high school....boy what memories! ANd all written right there for me to remember the rest of my life...those that don't know about the experience of snail mail... you have sure missed a wonderful part of life!

@coffeebreak I've never heard of it before! What is snail mail? I agree with you, I didn't have a mobile until I was 17 years old and I also have kept some love letters from my boyfriends. But I've got nothing from the time mobiles appeared because everyone texts each other and then the messages get lost because we erase them or we change the phone.

It is indeed very interesting, I didn't know it was yahoo that became the first e-mail provider! I wonder what more the engineers will discover in the future!

yes, yahoo! is the first webmail email provider. i don't agree with the agreement above that said email is not good because it's not free. everybody have to know that email that really really "not free" is exist. example: hushmail, plaza etc. we should thank to the provider that suply freemail like yahoo!, gmail, aol, msn, qq, 163, sina, etc. so many free mail out there. and they are the best way to communicate, work and information(data) exchange tools in the world wide web. in the cyber netter need freemail.

Its funny but I watch all the old sitcoms and back in the late 60's they were talking about computers on the show. Green Acres...remember that one with Eva Gabor and Eddie Albert when the city lawyer and his princess style bride move to the tiny little town called "hooterville"... they had one on there where they were using the computer for a dating service! "My THree Sons"...they had a class in school about a computerized dating service and they used the punch cards that PC's used to have. I didn't even know they existed until 8th grade when my school got one.. the ones that were the size of the entire room and you had to dial up to a local connection and stand there and wait and wait....ours hooked up to Ohio State University.... we stood there and waited and waited and it never did connect before class was over!

Correct! But since we are paying for the internet connection anyway, e-mail is a good extra! :)

Hi friend, good to know about the first email. Yes, now a days emails are quite common and most of the people forget about the normal mails and letter correspondence. Every one is interested in sending emails, it will reach the recipient soon without more troubles as well as we will send it free of cost

Oh yes I agree, it is much easier! However when I was a child I remember sending letters to my cousin who lived far away! The children that are born nowadays will never experience that feeling and that form of expression! I feel like this now because a few days ago I received a postcard from my old friend who lives in Mexico and I felt very emotional! Even if we talk with e-mails and skype, every time I remember this postcard I feel emotional again!
