I have just one simple question to ask. Do you believe because you really, truly, genuinely believe? Or do you do so because you were told to do so? Indoctrinated, even? Or worse, do you do it for fear of punishment from your so-called "god", or ostracism from elders or your community?

I believe because of the things I have learned in my life through the study of science and history. They provide the evidence that I needed to believe in the things that I believe in. We're all in danger of punishment as we all do bad things, so believing in something to keep from being punished is a waste of time.

I believe in God because I truly believe in God. I know that there is God and that Jesus is His Son. I believe in the Holy Spirit.

I've lost my faith already for real. It's like for me it's going to be a prayer to a God you don't believe in. So what's the point? Guess this discussion is for the faithful and not for the unfaithful ones. LOL.
The best answer for that is that I was told to believe so. Ever since my family is closed-mided to Catholics and they would prefer me to go to church. I've seen some around me and they seems to do that without putting their hearts in. For some I don't know how long will their faith lasts.
Hope to respect my points. Thanks and happy mylotting!

I went to different religions, every time I go to a religion, I try to study everything about them, and if I find something that I think it is not right with my studies, I can't stay there.
I studied theology when I was younger, I studied in 2 different religions, now I have my on believes that sometimes tells me that somethings in that church is wrong and somethings in the other is wrong.
I always loved to study about religion, I am not in this because I was forced to, or because of fear, I really want to understand all of this.
thanks for the discussion!
