hi friends. shahtri saiud yesterday just before mi vs csk clash that the team which wins today will make playoffs and he pretty made a lot of people unhappy who want both csk and MI at the play-offs. instead of just asking who will make it,lets analyse a little. considering that teams play 16 matches,the par seams to be 18 points for play-offs so we can tick off pune warriors and deccan chargers off that list.but they have a much important role left in this tournament. lets go by the points table. Delhi Daredevils: with 16 points from 10 matches,they need just one win to solidify their place in the playoffs from 6 matches. even dd wont play that bad to lose all 6 matches so we believe daredevils will make it. Kolkata Knight Riders: lets be honest.if it wasn't for some gambhir madness,kkr wont be at this position. with 15 points from 11 matches,they need to win atleast 2 from 5 matches. not a bad position,isn't it? wrong. a look at their opposition might change your mind. they have to face the topper daredevils(today),wounded csk,revenge on the mind pune warriors,and 2 matches against the dangerous mumbai indians. now those 2 wins doesn't look that easy,isn't it? for all i know,they got the worst 5 fate-deciding matches in the league. Mumbai Indians: they got 14 points from 11 matches.same like kkr,need 2 wins from 5 matches. they got one match against Rajasthan royals and 2 matches each against KKR and RCB. now any MI fans out there need not worry. because besides gambhir,their batting is duds and RCB can chase any target with their batting but can't even defend 160 with their bowling. better chance than KKR to make it. Chennai super kings: losing from a position of winning is bad enough for any team they got 11 points from 12 matches ( their number of matches played is more than their points lol ). problem with those rain washout matches is that,now csk doesn't know if 17 points is enough or should 19 be the only way in? but for 19 points,they have to win all the four remaining matches. even if they lose 1 and win all 3,they will be stuck at 17 points just short of 18 and had to wait on other results to know whether they can go through or not. their opposition being Daredevils (there goes the hope ),rajasthan royals,kings XI and KKR. problem is besides DD,all other 3 teams can beat any team on their day. so chances minimum. Royal Challengers banglore: if it weren't for devilliers heroic,RCb might be out of contention but they are still there. 11 points from 11 matches,they like csk,caught between 17 and 19 points. but unlike csk,they have a cushion of affording to lose one match. need 4 from 5 matches but their opponents are the bad ones. 2 against mumbai indians (make sure win the toss and bowl first),one against daredevils an done against the party-crashers pune warriors and deccan chargers. its almost as bad as KKRs.3 against the top team and 2 against the dangerous wooden spooners. chances minimum. Rajasthan royals: they should have won many matches but unlikely no.with tait in the team,bowling got much better. 10 points from 11 matches,they need 4 winsfrom 5 matches. not so good.2 matches against pune warriors,one against deccan chargers,csk and MI. going to be very tough for the royals. Kings XI punjab: they came back from dead but one doesnt know how long they will be alive. similar to the royals,need 4 wins from 5 matches and to be honest,they got it very bad. 2 against daredevils and deccan chargers and one against csk. so from all calculations,delhi are sure,mumbai has much better chance than others. the remaining 2 spots are the tough to decide. if daredevils and MI falters,kkr has much better chance and royals have much easier opponents than the other. chennai has to win all matches. so i would go with delhi,mumbai,kolkata,rajasthan. whats yours?
