I somehow don't enjoy taking photos of places that I go to anymore.

Since my camera was soaked in the rain, I don't take pictures when I travel anymore. I was just reminded when I was walking with a friend a while ago as the sun was setting down. The rooftops of the tall old buildings and at the back is the grand and sturdy citadel on a mountain top were the only ones lit. What a sight to see that he immediately took his i-phone out and shoot it. The photo he says is not as good as the really one, never.
It is like going into a concert and people would just take their mobile phones and cameras out documenting every moment of it. For what, to be just stored or be deleted anyway after sometime. It is a pity that the experience at that very moment has just been thrown away. We then try to relive it by watching the video but then it would just be crap and better to just watch a documentation by a real pro instead.

I love to take pictures and when I travel,I can easily take 100 a day.My personal vote has always been to buy extra 1GB memory for the digital camera,as they are cheap now a days and reusable as well.Generally we tend to burn our pictures into CD as well. And thus the memory cards can be reused.

It was a shame that your photo got soaked in the rain. Taking photos on a trip to a foreign country is very important to me indeed. Every trip I fill up around 3 memory cards full of photos. Then I develop my photos when I get back home. My mobile phone does not have a camera on it. My digital camera that I took to South America was very small so I could hide it under my clothing. I know that I visited some places rife with muggers. I wanted my digital camera to stay safe. I kept my used memory cards in my money belt along with my passport and money. I haven't got a movie maker. I prefer to take still photos. Though I do enjoy seeing travel videos on the Internet of other peoples travels.

Hmm. When I'm in a concert, I don't actually try to cover the whole event by taking a whole video of it. I just take a few pictures and that's enough. You can still enjoy a trip, a vacation, or a concert even while taking pictures. It's just that we should not take pictures too much. And pictures are a good way to relive the memories so you won't forget the look of the place and even though it's not the same anymore when you look at the pictures, at least these are the closest remembrances than the little mementos like tissues, stones, papers, etc.

Its good to capture nature in your camera whenever and wherever you love its sight. You can afterwards relax yourself by just having a look at those pictures. You might relive those moments of being there again.
But I dont think recording a concert is that useful because you'll very rarely feel like having a look at it again. Or you can just record your fav song of the band/singer and listen to it again afterwards relishing the fact that you recorded it yourself. :)
